Pat Quinn RIP 15:20 - Jul 14 with 63 viewsBringBackTheRedRoom

FORMER Motherwell and Hibs ace Pat Quinn has died at the age of 84.

The former Well striker was part of the famous 'Ancell Babes' side at Fir Park during the 1950s.

He made just under 200 appearances for the Steelmen after joining from Albion Rovers in 1995 before moving on to Blackpool in 1962.

He spent a year with the Seasiders before returning to Scotland where he joined Hibs.

Quinn spent six years at Easter Road before moving on to East Fife where he finished his career before a brief spell in charge of the Fifers.

Motherwell paid tribute to their former player, writing: "We are saddened to hear of the death of Pat Quinn at the age of 84.

"One of the club’s famous Ancell Babes, the inside forward made 251 appearances for the club between 1955 and 1962, scoring 119 goals.

"Quinn was a star man in the side, and would receive international recognition through four Scotland caps during his time at Fir Park.

"He would be sold to Blackpool in 1962 for £34,000, a significant sum for the times. He also went on to play for Hibernian and East Fife.

"Our thoughts are with Pat’s family and friends at this time."
