Eyre: I didn't see this coming
Eyre: I didn't see this coming
Monday, 19th Dec 2011 16:56 by Col

Speaking to local radio, former Dale manager Steve Eyre spoke of his surprise at the sack, tho admitted that football is a results based business.

Eyre told Radio Manchester: "We've put a lot of good things into place and we possibly won't see the fruition of that for some time.

"Obviously you're always hopeful that when you get a bit of an opportunity you get a little bit of time.

"I don't think there has been too many poor performances, so while we were creating chances, scoring goals and playing well I obviously had incredible self belief in the team and staff.

"I don't think that the players will end up in those bottom four slots, whether myself and Frank would have stayed at the club, or now as we leave."

Complete cr@p from a clueless ex :-) manager. There were lots of poor performances (mostly from players he signed). Except Yeovil, we haven't been creating chances. And as demonstrated against Yeovil, we havent been scoring goals. And finally we haven't played well all season except 1 or 2 games. We spanked bury, but the other wins could have gone either way.

Maybe he will put all his above comments on his cv and some other unlucky club will fall for it this time.

Great day to support Rochdale

"I didn't see this coming". What Harold said shortly after being hit in the eye by an arrow in 1066.

If he genuinely believes the comments he has made regarding poor performances etc. then the man is far more deluded than I ever gave him credit for, and I thought he was seriously deluded !

Don't think he will need to worry too much about his CV though, as I don't expect him to ever be employed as manager of a football league first team ever again.
