Not Very Good Friday
Not Very Good Friday

A day off for Southampton Football Club as Saints fans sat back and crossed their fingers whilst Reading and West Ham United played.

Good Friday never seemed to me an apt name for what was after all a pretty painful day for Jesus and it certainly wasnt a good day either for Saints as they sat back and watched Reading take over top spot and the Hammers take a few goals off the goal difference.

But disapointing as the results where, the truth is that they went pretty much to expectation and from that point of view nothing has changed for Saints, we still need to go out and win games of football and we need to start doing that with the visit of Portsmouth, nothing less than three points against them would have done ahead of yesterday's games and that still remains the case.

Reading despatched Leeds 2-0, the Yorkshire side were down to ten men from the 12th minute, but sadly just as it looked like they might nick a point, Reading scored twice in the last six minutes, up at Barnsley, West Ham were emphatic, however their opening goal was a mile off side, if it had been disallowed they had looked average up to that point, it could have been different.

But the fact is both did their job for the day and now Saints have to go out and do theirs and thats beat Pompey and crank up the goal average.
