In The Shadow Of Stoke - Port Vale Preview

After five days of flags, T-shirts, flags, media consipracies, flags, T-shirts, Cardiff City, flags, T-shirts and everybody hates us it's a tough job to realise that tomorrow we have to return to football business - hell I can't even remember who is in our squad such has been the reporting of the past few days.

What we do know is that tomorrow is our third successive cup final with a further 6 to follow the occasion and seven more wins should be enough to see us promoted come May 6 at Chesterfield. It won't be that simple but it would be nice to see it happen. With our game in hand on Tuesday night coming up then we have to be aiming high anyway and with Port Fail now free of the relegation worries (in theory) it could be a nice way to start the final push?

Vale of course took a point at White Rock earlier in the season. That's not really relevant by the way but someone told me that I needed to include information like that in a preview rather than the usual bile so there it is. Vale took a point at White Rock earlier in the season. There it is again. Double the value for half the price. Or something like that anyway.

Neither Phil Taylor or Robbie Wiliams will be in the crowd tomorrow which is just as well as the thought of flags bearing the slogans " off Peter Manley" or " off Gary Barlow" just makes me want to sit in a pile of gherkins and thank the lord that I ain't Ronald McDonald. I'm also not sure why Phil Taylor hates Gary Barlow so much anyway.

Port Vale is one of them strange phenomenons in world football. There is no such thing as Port Vale and they play in Stoke so quite where their name came from I have no idea. I assume that they are Ebbw Vale's little brother or something like that. Quite topical really I guess. And talking of topics, is it just me or are they not as nice as they used to be? I digress.....

The last time we lifted the Football League Autoglass Auto Windscreens LDV Sherpa Vans British Leyland (remember them?) Austin Princess Cup we played Port Vale in our next league game. But we lost that so lets not pretend that is a nice coincidence as it isn't really.

Team news. Master criminals Tate and Trundle will both feature for the Swans and both tagged for the occasion. The good news is that Trund;e's tag prevents him being offside whilst Tate's tag simply says "ALAN" just in case he forgets like. Indeed, you could say we have a bit of a tag team really. Groans Boom Boom. Also back into contention after being cup tagged tied are Rory Fallon and Tom Williams.

For Vale yet again I have let the side down by not checking the BBC site for team news so go and have a gander yourself. If, of course you are not boycotting them!

That's a match preview - the game tomorrow isn't on tele so don't wait for it to start but back Trundle to notch the first goal - after the week he has had you just know that it's gonna happen.

I have to go, I'm flagging...........
