Saints still have plenty of tickets left for Saturday's 3rd round FA Cup tie with Crystal Palace at St Mary's and at the bargain price of only £12.

What a difference a year makes, just under a year ago when we met Palace in the same competition, it was a sell out at St Mary's with expectations high of a good cup run, however now the perception amongst some fans is different after our recent poor run.

Of course the fact that Eastleigh are also playing in the FA Cup at home to Bolton Wanderers is not helping, but given the crowd for that game will probably be around 3,000 maybe 3,500, so the reality is that their gate will be more affected by the two games clashing.

Although it will be a decent gate at St Mary's probably around 25,000, judging by the online ticketing system, it will still be someway short of last seasons FA Cup fixture unless there is a late run on tickets, which given the cheap price of only £12 for adults could well happen.

So there is still time to buy for Saturday's game and as always the advice is to do it in advance as this is one of those games that could see a big walk up on the day.

£5 for under-17s

A1079 added 16:25 - Jan 5 I don't think it is just about the recent poor run, I think some of it is down to the attitude that the club, manager and players have had to cup competitions this season and last couple of seasons - complete indifference - and if they have it, given what they are paid, then it is not surprising that supporters will feel the same way. They cannot keep taking us for mugs. Shame really, as we should see cup competitions positively and an opportunity and may be they will this time, but too many occasions they have seen them as an unwanted intrusion. There is a slight chance this Saturday that being at home and at a weekend they may put in some effort, whereas had it been away at some northern ground in mid-week then I suspect the team would not bother at all.

saintwonston added 18:28 - Jan 5 If you support the team you support it in good and bad times. There has been worse periods of bad form/results than the current spell. There is no excuse not to go Saturday especially at the price set for the tickets. If this had been a cup semi or final it would have sold out even if we were not playing well or winning. Just remember that if we have a good cup run the club could decide to only let those who went to a previous round game buy a ticket. So don't complain if this becomes reality if you don't go on Saturday.

Whatsforpud added 23:44 - Jan 5 Thought Eastleigh were hoping for around 5k, of which most would be local. Might account for some of the shortfall at St. Mary's. Thought TV would have chosen to televise the Eastleigh match anyway. I assume that if Eastleigh get promoted this year, the fixture list would separate the home fixtures. I for one have been watching both teams when they don't clash.

darthvader added 11:59 - Jan 6 Am going with daughters and their friends . However if this was normal price I wouldn't be . Having gone to Norwich with the expense of that I had to choose which game to go to in the coming month so cheapest is the best option . Palace will bring down 4k fans so it will be noisy for sure . I hope we can score some goals I dont care how or who just shoot and score like against arsenal. It's difficult going to so many games especially this time of year I want to but just can't which is gutting .

ItchenNorth added 13:56 - Jan 6 I always watch a few Eastleigh games when Saints are away in the league. It's like watching proper football from the 80s again! A giant killing is to hard not to resist this time though so even though Saints are at home, I've opted for some (hopefully) good old fashioned 3rd round FA Cup action. No sure why St Marys shouldn't be near 30k for the Palace game thou. Fans moan at ticket prices then bizarrely don't always respond by bothering to take advantage. A city the size of Southampton and with our supposed fan base should be able to fill it at these prices. COYR & Spitfires!
