FA Youth Cup heartbreak Thursday, 17th Jan 2008 17:32 Leeds suffered an agonising defeat to Bristol City in the FA Youth cup last night, going out to a goal in the 94th. minute. Wed 16 Jan 2008 Bristol City Yth v Leeds United Yth F.A Youth Cup 4th Round Ashton Gate, Bristol 7pm 1 MATT EDWARDS 2 LIAM DARVILLE 3 CHRIS FISHER 4 FABIAN DELPH 5 DUANE GRACE 6 ROSS WILKINSON 7 CHRIS OVINGTON 8 NATHAN CARTMAN 9 TOM ELLIOTT 10 OLIVER HOTCHKISS 11 JOSH FALKINGHAM SUBS 12 SAM JEROME 13 NO SUB KEEPER 14JASON MYCOE 15 ANDREW MILNE 16 WILL HATFIELD 17 AIDEN WHITE Leeds had the injured Matt Edwards in goal who had only played 15 mins of football since November, with Chris Fisher taking the goal kicks for him. 5 mins Bristol have the first corner of the match, Edwards takes a comfortable catch in 6 yd box 6 Edwards makes a fine one handed save to push the ball away from goal, a Bristol forward sidefoots the rebound wide, with the goal at his mercy 19 Edwards does well to tip a shot over the bar 24 Grace makes a well timed tackle to stop a Bristol run thro the middle 26 Hotchkiss corner into 6yd box, Elliott header saved 27 Hotchkiss piledriver from 25yds, shot well saved at foot of the post 33 Elliott shot wide from edge of the area 45+1 Cartman did well on the bye line to cross into the box, unfortunately Ovington swung his left foot and missed the ball completely ht 0-0 49 Ref made an error and failed to give a foul when Darville went down, Bristol clear ball up into far corner of Leeds half 50 Bristol free kick, Bristol kick seems to elude several players in the box and creep in at the back post to put Bristol 1-0 up 52 Hotchkiss shot just over 53 12 Jerome replaces 11 Falkingham Leeds change formation with Jerome and Elliott up front 54 Darville does well to get across 6yd box and cut out a cross for a corner 57 Edwards does well to get a one handed save on a cross shot and palm the ball out, Darville tidys up and clears 59 Cartman shot saved 60 Wilkinson does well to make a good recovery tackle and slide ball out for a corner 61 Delph shot, well saved by keeper 62 Delph shot just over bar 67 Hotchkiss shot, keeper managed to get fingertips to divert ball for a corner 75 Cartman booked for hefty challenge 78 Jerome somehow bundled the ball over the line to equalise, ref and linesman both agree ball crossed the line before being hacked away. 80 Delph lucky to stay on the pitch after retaliating to a foul, yellow card for both players 81 Delph shot narrowly wide 83 Cartman snatched at a left footed shot, ball went wide 89 Fisher cut in from left and his shot well saved by keeper 90 Ovington was chopped down on a surging run thro the middle, no red card given 90+1 Hotchkiss free kick just over the bar 90+2 Cartman shot saved 90+3 Leeds corner, ball cleared 90+4 Bristol free kick from dugout area into the Leeds box, Edwards manages to get a fist to the ball ball falls to a Bristol player who manages to sidefoot the ball through several players in a crowded box to score a cruel winner The 1st half wasn't the best Leeds have played, but we looked comfortable enough. 2nd half, especially the latter stages Leeds' superior fitness and strength showed. A number of us felt that if we had gone into extra time we would have won this match as Bristol had got very little left at 90 mins but that's the cup for you Leeds man of the match Duane Grace
