As I mentioned on another thread Galloway may have lost a fair bit of support with the move of Falinge and Spotland to Heywood North. Paul Waugh took the trouble to go to the recent Meet The Board evening and ask a question; in the absence of the likes of David Tully this time any Dale fans who are in the Rochdale constituency should be using their votes and backing Waugh in my opinion. |

Being realistic it’s a matter of when he goes not if he does. Like you say though let’s not settle for an “undisclosed fee” which turns out to be around £300k. And don’t forget the add-ons! |

I bought mine a couple of weeks ago but paid the extra £5 for the privilege of having a piece of plastic. The lady in the ticket office said that I wasn’t the only one who didn’t have 100% confidence in the digital version. |

It will be interesting to see where Jamie Stott ends up after leaving Halifax. Decent player in a mean defence last season. |

Congratulations and well done. The programme is a key ingredient for matchdays for me. |

For some reason Heywood AODS staged several productions at the Hippodrome in the 1960s so it could have been them? Perhaps Heywood Civic Hall was being built? I definitely saw them do “The King and I” during this period. |

Tyrese Sinclair has signed for York City today. York have been busy in the transfer market. |

As you say the constituency boundaries have changed including taking Spotland and Falinge out of Rochdale into Heywood North. I suspect that a lot of Galloway voters could be affected by this. |

Thanks for clarifying that Chaff. I’ve no axe to grind over this issue, just wondering why the uptake hasn’t matched that of last year. Tickets went on sale on the first week of the month last year though when everyone had been paid, and, if you were paying by credit card, the purchase wouldn’t have been on the June statement in most cases but rather that of July. And in the seven days following the first day of sales we signed three players. Not a peep this time although I certainly don’t expect to see any of last seasons squad re-signing for a good few weeks. I’m sure they’ve alternative offers to consider. |

I think there may be a few factors here. As mentioned above a lot of people don’t get paid until the end of the month. I’m pretty sure they went on much earlier last year. No squad signings. No fixtures. No incentive for season ticket holders in the Sandy to buy before the day before the first home game of the season. As an exile I want to see how many games I can get to; it’s odds-on I’ll buy a season ticket but another type of card may be an option. |

I worked at BAE in Barrow in the 1970s (or Vickers as it was known in then) and there was a palpable fear in those days as to what would happen to the town if GB scrapped it’s nuclear deterrent. In those days there was even a direct express rail link to London for MOD bigwigs to get there easily. Any prospective MP wouldn’t have stood a chance if he’d been anti Polaris/Trident. I think there are around 12000 on the dockyard workforce at the moment with another 5000 projected jobs. And these jobs are well paid. Those jobs could all have gone in ten years though so there’s no long term planning for infrastructure or facilities. Like the 11000 working up the coast at Sellafield it’s all short term , living for the present attitudes prevailing. |

A general election looms….I believe that nominations for the Labour candidate close at 5.00pm on Monday with Dale exile fan Paul Waugh being the favourite. I wonder if David Tully will stand again? |

Pete Wild leaves Barrow. I’m sure he won’t be out of work for long. |
