One of the first times I went to Tottenham was with a Spurs supporting friend so was in the home area. The level of swearing (and this at their own players) was at a different level to that at the Dell. |

Interesting how the plod has changed. A very good friend of mine used to be the officer in charge at Watford home games and he knew all of the local faces. Worst trouble he ever had though was at Luton when a contingent of Watford constabulary were bussed up there to help their compadres in the Bedfordshire constabulary at the infamous Luton/Millwall match. I can’t help but chuckle a little when I see the footage of him legging it across the pitch as the Millwall fans charged and the police scattered. He assured me the polizi got their own back big time with their truncheons as the away fans were finally filing out of the ground…. |

There is NO excuse (short of another Munich style disaster) for pulling out of the cups. The FA (and others) need to get it into their thick heads that they are mere custodians and they must not debase these competitions as they did when they allowed man u a 'bye' a few years back. Pulling out of a domestic cup should result in automatic relegation. Also, give the FA Cup winners access to the Champions League - that would give the special 6 something to think about. |

For those of us that were there in ‘76 that wait brought back traumatic memories and seemed to last forever. At least there was no mass brawling outside this time though..! |

Pat, that sounds just like you delivered that reply in the voice of Private Fraser. Love it! |

As is so often in life, the chase is often better than the catch (witness, various ex girlfriends etc) On the other hand, it’s still a high and much better feeling than contemplating a trip to the Leper Colony on Portsea…. |

The PA system was utter shit. I have no idea what all that cack at half time was about? |

The petty sniping on the Have Your Say section of the BBC site is usually pretty crass, but you’re right, there is still a general dislike of Dirty Leeds… |

It would be great if Downes stayed. Unfortunately he is a West Ham fan in “real life”. He went to the same school in Brentwood as Frank Lampard and has mutual friends with my son who also went there . West Ham fans generally like him too and want him back, so keeping him would be a major coup for us. |

Wouldn’t have been at all surprised if he was actually there and I bet yes, he may have some regrets, but was delighted with the result . Lallana and others were there supporting Saints, after all. Also we Could have done with him for the free kick and corners… |

Agreed. We need to go up both financially and morally (we must stay ahead of those stinking fish fvcking retards down the road for starters). |

What Rylan is failing to understand here is that it's not the man, but the position he holds which deserves due respect. For example, Trump and Biden may be cretins, but when the marine guard salutes the President they are not endorsing the man, but the position he holds. Martin isn't employed as manager of Southampton Football Club for his political views and he should respect the role of the PM, whether its Sunak or Starmer. Btw, I hate politics in sport with a passion, although I thought the chant of the night on Friday was when the West Brom fans serenaded Sunak with "You're just a shit Boris Johnstone". |

Doesn't it just give them yet another reason they've been unfairly treated? Self-pity-city and all that... |
