I’m looking forward to some Portillo moments. The Tories deserve a kicking for Brexit and the Lettuce. It would be funny though if Lib Dem’s become the official opposition. That would give Ed Davey 6 questions at PMQ’s and whoever ends up as Tory leader with 2.

Don’t think Wilkins was capped while with us (although he should have been). Have to insert John Gregory instead.

This was great stuff. I used to go there in the late 60’s (my mother would not let me go to HQ-all those nasty rough boys in Shepherd’s Bush).

It was 2/6 through the boys turnstile, 6d. for the programme and 3d. each way on the bus from Boston Manor. I used to be given 4/- for the day, so had 6d. to spend on sweets.

The crowd was around 4,000 or so except for one match against Aldershot (I think) who were chasing promotion. It was 10,000 that day. I used be right at the front of that big roofed stand. I was amazed when I went back years later (might have been a pre-season game) to see that it was no longer there.

Serbia 🇷🇸 v England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Match Thread
at 09:06 17 Jun 2024

Serbia were no mugs and we had to earn the right to play our game. We did enough, mainly because Bellingham was on another planet compared to everyone else. For me Foden was the biggest disappointment. I would have like to see Eze on for the last 15 or so. I didn’t see the point of bringing Mainoo on. Guehi was a big plus. I don’t think he out a foot wrong.

The big thing is that it is a win. Our record in the first game in tournaments is apparently terrible. But Southgate had won the last two. I remember Euro 96-that started with a really dull draw against Switzerland. It turned out alright in the end though. Hopefully this time will be the same.

Heading To Gelsenkirchen Next Weekend- Eng v Serbia.
at 07:45 10 Jun 2024

I drove across Germany in 2016. No tolls, and in the quieter areas no speed limits either. I stuck to around 140kmh but it was quite something to see the Mercs and Beemers whizz by at 250. Keep your eyes on your rear view mirror. They also have the unnerving habit of driving right up your exhaust pipe when they want to pass.

Where speed limits apply the speed cameras are everywhere. Also in the Netherlands.

Have fun!!

I love Twickenham if someone bungs me a ticket.

I used to go to every Oval test (all 5 days) but it got so expensive I jacked that in.

Also really love Wimbledon but I don’t watch any other tennis. In my younger days I would queue up to get in.

During a 2 year stint of going to the US a lot I discovered baseball. Now that is a game I could watch a lot.

No interest in Formula 1, NFL or NBA. Golf-there was a time when I played twice a week. It got too time consuming. Now the professional game is a joke. Sky TV and Saudi sportswashing. Ughhh. As for boxing—should be banned globally.

I’m no great fan of Starmer but the Tories have to go. Labour it is. I don’t need to spell out the reasons in full, but how about these;

Inflicting Brexit and telling porkies on an epic scale.

They partied, people’s relatives died.

Use the Rwanda outrage as ludicrous alternative to a fair and well run asylum policy (with legal routes to enter the U.K. to address the small boats issue).

Hollowing out the public realm so that nothing works any more.

Pretending that climate change is someone else’s problem.

I could go on. Just do it and throw the rascals out!!

Which will be strongest
at 11:06 17 May 2024

I can see Luton strolling to automatic promotion. Burnley will fall apart if Kompany leaves. Sheffield United look to be in free fall.

There is a chance to make it up-but don’t bet the farm please. I also think Eze will stay at Palace for another season. Glasner has really got them going and European football is possible if everyone stays. So no crock of gold from there (just yet).

My interest in boxing crashed when Bradley Stone died after a boxing match. I knew him. He worked in our firm’s mail room. He was one of those cheery cockney guys. Always cheerful. What a waste that was. So no more boxing for me.

20 years? Crikey. I wore my retro top to that one. I’ve never worn it since. Was lucky enough to be about 10 rows back in the upper tier and right behind the goal. It was SO loud.

Alcatraz is hard to get tickets for. Book in advance. Take a boat ride out to the Golden Gate. It’s just great. If you have time go to Sausalito.

Palace put price tag on Eze

Was happy to see Manure have their backside handed to then by Palace. Eze is almost Bowles like. He can do anything (including being misunderstood by a tactically inept England manager).

Stoke are ahead of us by having scored 3 goals more, so if we do better than they do in the last 2 games we go above them. They are away to Southampton and home to Bristol City. That is another possible insurance policy.

The scenarios for us to go down are now getting into fantasy island. Assuming we get nothing from the last 2 games;

At least two of the following need to happen for us to be relegated. Any points secured in the last 2 games makes us safe anyway,

Huddersfield need two wins and to reverse a goal difference of 11.

Birmingham need a win and a draw, but if Hudds beat them (see above) they can’t catch us.

Wednesday need a win (and reverse a goal difference of 13). I assume WBA will win their game against them. They are at Sunderland on the last day. Had they lost today we would now be all but safe.

Plymouth need a win and are away to Millwall and home to Hull.

Blackburn need a point from matches against Leicester and Coventry.

Loftus Road journey
at 13:00 19 Apr 2024

Lower Loft terrace or East Paddock in the early 80’s. Then season ticket in T block (wonderful view and great atmosphere). Since mid 2000’s have lived away so occasionally in SAR (more comfortable but less atmosphere). Occasional Upper Loft as well in the early 80’s. Never been in School End.
