How about that start?

In a hugely interesting turn of events, who would've thought that little ol' Swansea City could pull down the huge charade that is the almighty Manchester United? I spent Saturday afternoon sat in a little bar in Rhodes watching the match with my old man, the two of us trying desperately to not rile up the Man U fans that surrounded us after Gylfi slotted home the victory for the Swans. What an incredible start to the season that was, but we all know that those beautiful three points will mean nothing if we don't beat Burnley, or even West Brom the week after.

Let's begin with the victory on the weekend; after all, we could do with at least some credit from somewhere, surely? The whole build up to the match was solely on Van Gaal and 'his moment', how this would kick start his reign of what will be a 'magnificent, new Manchester United'. Now I'm sat there thinking, yeah, fair enough; David Moyes ruined this team, Louis Van Gaal will bring it back to its former glory, I can understand the hype. However with barely a mention from the BT Sports pundits, you can't help but think that surely after four years of being written off, they'd at least give us a few kind words or something? Maybe a mention of Garry Monk at least? But that made the victory all the more sweet! Especially after watching Paul Scholes eat his words and hiding from the camera after saying we'd be relegated from the league. I think we should take this moment to laugh rather thoroughly at him, HAHAHAHAHAHA. I've always hated Scholes, as a footballer he was good, but he's always seemed so arrogant. When he began his punditry, I thought maybe he'd be more like Gary Neville (the best pundit around at the moment) and be a lot more on the fence about football, but did anyone else notice that he'd always refer to Man United as 'we' or 'us'? You're not a player anymore Paul, you need to realise that.

After not being mentioned after the game itself, and for the next few days after that, it's really gotten to me. The only person I've heard complimenting the team was Chris Kamara, you can always rely on Kammy. All its been about is how United need to change. Honestly, they didn't play great, but we played very well! Can no one notice this? Fabianski had a solid game, Williams was incredible as per usual, the midfield were very controlled and even Tiendalli played well when he came on. Originally, him coming on for Taylor made me question Monk's tactics, but he played well and took his chance. It was because of Tiendalli that we managed to get the ball for the second goal in the first place, brilliant call There Garry! He deserved that win, he seems to have put so much hard work into everything, this season could be great for Monk, who knows, we may well be looking at another Roberto Martinez?

None of that match will matter though if we don't win our next two games, Burnley and West Brom at home should be seen as very winnable matches, if we don't pick up six points, we may as well have not won at Old Trafford. 3 wins out of 3 will put us in a great position to kick on for the rest of the season and confidence will ooze out the boots of the players. I think Gomis will have a very good season at the Liberty, along with all the other new signings. Who knows? Dare I say this could be our best season yet? Touch wood.
