Week 4 results

NEWCASTLE UNITED 2 SOUTHAMPTON 2

James Ward-Prowse scored a dramatic 96th-minute penalty for Southampton soon after Allan Saint-Maximin appeared to grab an injury-time winner for Newcastle. Nobody got this spot-on, but 5 did have the outcome.

BARNSLEY 1 BIRMINGHAM CITY 1
Both teams had to settle for a point apiece with neither side able to find the winner after two first-half goals. 4 had this spot-on, and nobody got the outcome.

MIDDLESBROUGH 1 BLACKBURN ROVERS 1
Both teams finished with 10 men as they shared the points. 6 got this spot-on, and 1 more had the outcome.

MILLWALL 2 BLACKPOOL 1
Millwall get a 90th minute winner as they came from behind to beat 10-man Blackpool and earn their first league win of the season. A magnificent 7 had this spot-on, and a futher 16 got the outcome with 10 going for a 1-0 in what was the weeks most predicted score.

OXFORD UNITED 3 LINCOLN CITY 1
James Henry hit a hat-trick as Oxford beat injury-hit Lincoln. Only 2 got this spot-on, and another 19 had the outcome,

SHREWSBURY TOWN 2 GILLINGHAM 1
Shrewsbury end a near seven hour wait for a goal as they came from behind to get their first points this season. The game ended with Shrewsbury having nine men, and Gillingham ten, with three players being dismissed in stoppage time. 3 had this spot-on, and 3 also got the outcome.

WIGAN ATHLETIC 1 PORTSMOUTH 0
Callum Lang's 78th-minute strike was the difference as Wigan end Portsmouth's unbeaten start to the season. Well done to BFG for being the only one to get this spot-on, and another 9 had the outcome.

BARROW 1 BRISTOL ROVERS 1
Barrow had captain Mark Ellis sent off for violent conduct but still held on for a draw. 3 had this spot-on, and 2 more got the outcome.

HARTLEPOOL UNITED 2 CARLISLE UNITED 1
Hartlepool make it three home wins from three since returning to League Two. A great 8 got this spot-on, and another 3 had the outcome.

WALSALL 1 STEVENAGE 0
Conor Wilkinson's early strike gave Walsall their first victory this season, and earned Matthew Taylor his first managerial win. 5 had this spot-on, and a further 6 got the outcome.

With fans back watching games again, it is certainly giving an advantage to the home teams, with only 6 away wins from the 41 games played in England's top four divisions today. That trend was reflected in our 10 games this week, with 6 ending in wins for the home team, and the other 4 producing draws. That means in the 28 games played so far this season we have had 13 homes, 11 draws, and just the 4 aways. It will be interesting to see if this big disparity between homes and aways continues. Even though no away teams won there was a big discrepancy in the points scored by members this week. In fact Division One really put one over the Premier, by beating them 29-10 when it came to 3 pointers. Though it was the Premier's RSCOSWORTH who was the weeks top scorer with a magnificent 14 points. He has had a lot of success with the 1-1 in the past, and he chose the right week to go heavy with that prediction again, and he got the three at Barnsley, Middlesbrough and Barrow, along with the Millwall 2-1, and two outcomes. Another member to get a superb four 3 pointers was Lewis_1, who had the wins for Millwall, Oxford and Walsall, along with the Middlesbrough 1-1, to give him a brilliant 12 points. Four members did well to get three 3 pointers. They produced a brilliant 11 points for gerry_us, who got the wins for Millwall and Hartlepool, and the Middlesbrough 1-1, and also for Pinault_Noir, who had the wins for Oxford and Shrewsbury, and another to get the Middlesbrough 1-1. The other two got a superb 10 points, they were burnsieespana who had the wins for Millwall, Shrewsbury and Walsall, and BFG who got the Barrow 1-1 and the Walsall 1-0 to go with his good Wigan 1-0 pick. Best of the five members to get two 3 pointers was unitedwhites, who had the 2-1 wins for Shrewsbury and Hartlepool, and four outcomes to also give him a superb 10 points.

In the Premier The top scoring performance from RSCOSWORTH moves him up four places to the summit. This is the first time he has been top of the Premier since Week 10 in the 2018/19 season. The other big scorer in this division unitedwhites, moves up a place into second. Last weeks top two sevebalo and mfb_cufc have to settle for the other Super Cup places this week, with the latter just shading third on the first to post rule. In what was overall a tough week for 3 pointers for the rest of the league, it is the three members that got one who are in the + column, with baser2010 moving up two places, and Daniel and TheFatGooner both moving up a place. The bottom three continue their search for a first 3 pointer this season.

In Division One The brilliant week for Lewis_1 continued his rapid rise to the top, after only being 14th after Week 1. Two 3 pointers each for medicine_man and MrHappy2, means they remain second and third. It is all change in the places below them with the excellent weeks for gerry_us moving him up eight places into fourth, burnsieespana up five into fifth, and the play-off spots being completed by Pinault_Noir moving up seven places into sixth. It was also a seven place rise for BFG, as he finally showed his midweek form. After leading for the last two weeks, durham_exile has been overwhelmed by all these good performances, and drops nine places, but is still only two points from the play-offs. The other members to get two 3 pointers this week were GOSBTS and blueeagle, to keep them well in sight of the play-offs. With gsy163 getting a 3 pointer, all members in this league have now got one, but it was not enough to stop him dropping to the bottom.

THE TABLES (28 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)
