I have a history of really liking players who go on to be terrible.
Steve Salde - I really thought he had it Dicky Pacquette - I think did have it but too much too young
My new one is Beanie and I hope he comes good. The little I have seen of him I like. Willing runner, energy, does have an eye for where the chances are, came close a couple of times yesterday and like that he had the where-with-all to get close to his chances, and a little more playing time will only make him better.
Maybe a loan would suit but either way I think there is a good little player there.
We’ve had quite a few of these against us over the last couple of seasons, where it seemingly comes out of nowhere. So lovely to see one chalked up in our favour.
What I like about him is he is quite tall and physically sturdy so he provides a change from our small and slight wide men. A different challenge for the other team’s defence to manage. He’s also not afraid to make a pass or take a shot. He’s also good at finding the right place on the pitch to be and finding pockets of space which you can’t really teach. Like most younger players he needs to improve his decision-making and also sometimes play the ball a bit quicker but he’s shown enough to not look out of place in the first team squad.
All good points and I particularly agree about the physicality. I think like with Kolli, he needs game time. You’ll have moments like Coventry (I think?) Where he lost his man and was ball watching for the goal and moments like yesterday, but that’s all part of his development.
I don’t really understand the development squad situation. You’ve got player like Lloyd, Kolli, and Esquerdinha, and obviously Bennie, who I think of as first team players, but aren’t. They seem to be in limbo between the two. On call if someone gets injured, but back down to the development squad when not needed. I’m sure there’s system/structure, but I’m not aware of how it works.
