Happy League 2015/16 - The season round-up. 23:50 - Jun 3 with 761 viewsmfb_cufc

With the Champions League final played, the curtain comes down on another season of Happy competitions. Here is a round-up on how the season went.

Premier
This league was probably the most closely fought in the history of the Happy League, with never many points separating the Charity Shield and relegation spots. Just 12 points at the season end. In the 2014/15 season ethicsgirl finished fifth, with 168 points. Just one more point this season was enough for her to win the league, and to complete an excellent season, she also won the Charity Shield. A good second-half to the season enabled mfb_cufc to finish runner-up in both the league and Charity Shield. He finally achieved success by winning the newly formed Europa League. For most of the season Gate16 looked odds on to win the title, but he lost form at a vital stage, and had to settle for finishing third. Another one to have a good second-half was thrillseeker, to finish a respectable fourth, and just 3 points away from seeking the thrill of being in the Charity Shield. After being in the top three for virtually the whole season, BFG seemed likely to avoid his usual mid-table finish, but a disappointing last couple of weeks, meant it happened again. But this was certainly more of a glass half full season for him. For the second season running a lack of 3 pointers held back wessex_exile, but another decent return of 1 point outcomes, allowed him to avoid relegation again. Most who get promoted from Division One find life harder in the Premier, and this season was no exception, with Sector4 and RSCOSWORTH just doing enough to avoid the drop. Not so lucky though was TheNet, who didn't help his cause by not showing for the final two weeks. After an incredible final week sevebalo saved himself from the dreaded second season syndrome. One who didn't was noah4x4, whose up and down season ended on a last day downer. Some new grounds for him to visit, will soften the blow. The final relegation spot was surprisingly occupied by the previous seasons Champ mrhappy. A sad way for him to retire as President of the League, but we still hope to see him as a player next season.

Division One
This league was dominated by the newcomers. First of all we had Gunnerjosh getting off to a flier, before he unfortunately dropped out. Then it was burnsieespana and jonestones who went toe to toe for the rest of the season, with burnsieespana just having the upper hand, and ending a worthy champion. Even though he had to settle for being runner-up, jonestones finished a good first season by winning the Champions League. The other promotion spot went to Tropical_Us, who produced two fantastic performances to win the play-offs. For the second season running ColuKev and gsy163 were beaten in the play-offs. I expect both of them, along with unlucky play-off loser Barsidepete, to be in contention for promotion again next season. Another newbie concordman, just missed out on a play-off spot, and ended a decent season by being an unlucky loser in the Champions League final. The lack of 3 pointers kept durham_exile out of a play-off spot, but he had the consolation of getting more 1 point outcomes than anybody in both leagues. An improved season for gerry_us, but he was always just falling short of reaching the play-offs. A similar comment also applies to the returning desthegooner, but he got on the honours board, by winning the Happy Cup. After a slow start johnnyboy53 improved as the season progressed, to show he could be a force to be reckoned with next season. After winning the Happy Cup and the Charity Shield the previous season, Blue4U2 failed to scale those heights this time round. A number of no shows didn't help Daniel in his bid to avoid the wooden spoon for the second season running.

At the half-way stage of the season there had been more 1-1 results than any other. Not surprisingly it ended the season in the number one spot, with the 1-0 in second. A repeat of the previous season, but both amounts well down. Here is a full breakdown on how the 300 games, including Charity Shield and play-offs, finished. With the previous season totals in brackets.

1-1...36 (12.0%) [49] A disappointing return for the most predicted result.
1-0...28 (9.33%) [39] Well down on previous season, but probably a more realistic figure.
2-0...25 (8.33%) [26] Still beating the more popular 2-1.
1-2...25 (8.33%) [21] Takes over 0-1 as the best bet for an away win.
0-1...23 (7.66%) [27]
2-2...22 (7.33%( [12] The big surprise, almost double the previous season.
2-1...21 (7.00%) [19]
0-2...19 (6.33%) [6] That is more like it what you would expect.
0-0...16 (5.33%) [16]
0-3...15 (5.00%) [5] A figure that is not likely to be repeated next season.
1-3...13 (4.33%) [14]
2-3...11 (3.66%) [13] Still holding up surprisingly well.
3-0.....7 (2.33%) [13]
3-1.....6 (2.00%) [16] Well down on previous season. Expect more again next season.
3-2.....6 (2.00%) [9]
1-4.....4 (1.33%) [1]
4-0.....3 (1.00%) [1]
4-1.....3 (1.00%) [3]
5-1.....2 (0.66%) [1]
3-4.....2 (0.66%) [0]
0-4.....2 (0.66%) [2]
2-4.....2 (0.66%) [1]
2-5.....2 (0.66%) [0]
4-2.....1 (0.33%) [3]
6-0.....1 (0.33%) [0]
4-3.....1 (0.33%) [0]
7-1.....1 (0.33%) [0]
5-0.....1 (0.33%) [0]
4-5.....1 (0.33%) [0]
5-2.....1 (0.33%) [1]

Details for next season will appear sometime in July. So in the meantime enjoy watching Euro 2016, and seeing England win it. Well enjoy watching anyhow.

Super stats as always.

A sad way to go after 13 seasons, but not that sad ! - winning the PREM last year was something Like Leicester I can treasure forever - NEVER easy to win by anyone's standards.

Well done ETHICS !

Prizes will be issued before start of next season for sure.

I leave the league in EXCELLENT HANDS.

It will be updated with points for the Europa League and Daniel's PL (which I remind, back in November I had no clue and seemingly no shot to win, but did)

As you say, in excellent hands. We'll do you proud, Haps.

Poll: In Daniel's PL, Sector4 is top, I'm 2nd or 3rd depending on the update
