Isn't it a bit presumptuous to think he doesn't already get plenty of coaching on technique? It's like all those who think all our problems will be solved by just 'practising finishing more'. Maybe he is what he is, a lower league striker with a somewhat spotty goalscoring record. Which is why he plays for Rochdale. [Post edited 18 Feb 18:49]

I don't know much about Francis, where's his best position? Could he have been signed with a view to playing there? There seems to be an awful lot of players in the mix with McBride making way and Burger back in favour currently, personally I prefer the former. |

It's generally accepted that Allarakhia offers more from an attacking standpoint than Moss but the latter had contributed a goal and an assist over the previous two games. For me Allarakhia flatters to deceive and his final product is often woeful. I wouldn't be offering him a new contract after this season regardless of which division we find ourselves. As bad as Amantchi was it might have been useful to have him or somebody of his ilk coming off the bench yesterday to cause a bit of chaos in their box. EEL did his best as an emergency striker but I'm not sure if Hendo touched the ball. I haven't seen a replay or any highlights yet but was it a red card offence? Honestly looked pretty innocuous at the time and just a coming together although admittedly I didn't have the greatest view. |

Looks like a load of nonsense, has us going unbeaten for the rest of the season? I'd love that but it's highly unrealistic. Also has poor old Gateshead only picking up 8 points the rest of the way.....must have as little faith in Amantchi as I have Oh yeah, and we're only going to concede 4 more goals apparantly. Finally Amantchi does something useful for us, he really should be burying that header second half. |

I think management take the Moneyball approach to games and play the percentages. How many goals are scored from certain positions, for every Beckwith worldie theres's 3 or 4 Allarakhiah's that end up in the back in the stand after shooooooooooooooooting. Hard to argue with the results. Saying that they should work on finishing is just redundant because they probably do, they're National League players for a reason. |

Fair enough, maybe I'm being too harsh and prematurely judging him. Will be delighted if I'm way off the mark and he proves me completely wrong (again). |

I would have to disagree, I think Amantchi has been dire in all his games thus far (including Solihull). Mitchell, for all his faults, still managed to find the net on a pretty regular basis, something Levi hasn't looked remotely like doing. His late 'effort' last night was so poor I actually laughed out loud and for someone of his size and stature he rarely wins headers or holds up the ball. His one shining moment came against Burnley U21's with an (admittedly good) header and I thought that he might at least have some use when we're chasing a game and slinging over crosses for him to cause a bit of chaos, but that's not really the way we play. |

Kind of surprised by this. Although he's proven he can score goals at this level I thought he'd end up at a (no disrespect intended) 'lesser' NL team or even a progressive looking outfit from the step below. Personally don't think he should be anywhere near a team that harbours serious ambitions to get out of this league, but good luck to him all the same. |

EEL is only 32. Surprised re Hogan, it's suddenly quite a crowded defensive picture with the new signings as well. Makes you think there may be something in the rumour that Beckwith could be on his way. |

The final isn't until June 1st, going to feel like a very short off season for whoever loses. Coupled with the psychological blow as well it might take a while to get them up and challenging again next season. |

I've seen lots of comments regarding us being 'comfortable' or having them 'on the ropes' at 3-1 and it just never felt like that to me. Some games you know they're put to bed with a 2 goal advantage but Southend had been having a go all night and it was far from over for me. Also thought they should've had a penalty late on (and Hogan would've walked already being on a yellow) and our penalty was rather soft. [Post edited 17 May 2025 12:51]

Extra time if level after 90 apparently. |

Far more than the football on display or the result, this is the sort of thing that will dissuade potential new supporters, particularly those with kids, from returning. Dispiriting. |
