Humberside referee Carl Boyeson will be the man in the middle when Dale take on Bournemouth at Spotland on Saturday.

This will be the second time in three years that Carl has refereed this fixture, as he was also in the middle for the 0-0 draw at Spotland towards the end of the clubs’ 2009/10 promotion campaigns.

The Hull-based official has been a regular at Dale games down the years, most recently on New Year’s Day 2011 when he refereed the 3-2 home win over Tranmere.

That was his 13th game involving Dale, with one of the most incident-packed coming at Notts County in January 2005.

The match finished 0-0 and was a fairly timid affair, but Carl sent off Dale’s Gareth Griffiths and Ernie Cooksey as we finished the afternoon with only nine men.

Cooksey’s red card was later rescinded, meaning he was free to take part in the FA Cup tie at Charlton five days later.

Mr Boyeson’s full record at Dale matches is:

31 August 2002 Rochdale v Southend U D3 Lost 1-2

21 January 2003 Rochdale v Lincoln C D3 Lost 0-1

03 January 2005 Notts Co v Rochdale L2 Drew 0-0

09 April 2005 Rochdale v Leyton Orient L2 Won 2-0

23 August 2005 Rochdale v Bradford C CC Lost 0-5

25 April 2006 Rochdale v Barnet L2 Drew 1-1

30 September 2006 Rochdale v Shrewsbury T L2 Drew 1-1

15 December 2006 Hartlepool U v Rochdale L2 Lost 0-1

2 October 2007 Darlington v Rochdale L2 Drew 1-1

16 February 2008 Bradford C v Rochdale L2 Won 2-1

18 October 2008 Morecambe v Rochdale L2 Drew 1-1

5 April 2010 Rochdale v Bournemouth L2 Drew 0-0

1 January 2011 Rochdale v Tranmere L1 Won 3-2

So far this season Carl has refereed 24 games, showing 57 yellow cards and six red.
