"Northampton definitely going up"
Thursday, 16th Aug 2012 17:17 by Col

Those are the words this week of former Northampton loanee, Question Time panellist, Countdown contestant and PFA Chairman Clarke Carlisle.

Carlisle finished last season on loan at Saturday's opponents Northampton and was part of their side which finished in 20th place, just four points off relegation but he is expecting a massive turnaround this next season.

Speaking in midweek, he told the BBC: "I have no doubt they are going to get promoted. He [Boothroyd] has got a fantastic set-up there now and the lads are fantastic to work with."

Such is his confidence, he went on to say: "I'm not even going to wish them luck because they don't need it. Get down to Sixfields because you are going to see some fantastic football."

The former Claret is currently without a football club.

I would not agree based on what I saw yesterday. The Rochdale ball boys had more class than most of their team
