Brendan Rodgers takes his side to Tranmere tonight eyeing up a dream draw if they progress

Swansea City will progress into the third round of the Carling Cup with victory at Prenton Park on Tuesday meaning the possibility of coming up against one of the country's biggest sides as the European qualifying teams all enter the competition.

But the Swans manager knows that his side must not under estimate their League One opponents if they are to secure his ideal of a dream draw in the competition.

He told the Evening Post "They haven't had as good a start as they would have liked, but this will be a difficult game for us.

"We'll need to have the right focus and mentality to get through to the next round, which is our objective.

"For me the cup competitions are important. The priority is the league obviously, but we want to do well in the FA Cup and the Carling Cup.

"If you get through the early rounds of this competition, you can very quickly find yourself with a great draw and that's something we'd all like to happen.

"There will be some players who played at Norwich involved again and there will be others who have been on the fringe," Rodgers added.

"But we will be strong enough to go and get a result."
