Ferrie Bodde says he cannot wait to play again as he prepares to return to Swansea City in the New Year

It has been almost 12 months since Bodde last appeared for the Swans and over two years since he first suffered his knee injury in a Championship game against Birmingham.

Since then there have been two false starts and that is on Ferrie's mind as he continues his recovery back in his native Holland.

"Things are going really well at the moment and I'm sure I will make some games by the end of the season,'' revealed Bodde via the club's official website.

"The hard work really started three weeks ago and I firmly believe I'm on my way back.

"I'm training six days a week; 50 per cent on the pitch and 50 per cent in the gym. For four of those days I'm training twice a day.

"I'm feeling more confident now than when I made my last comeback. But while I will remain positive, I am not going to lie to myself. If I don't trust my knee then I'm not going to go for it because if it happens again then I will have problems for the rest of my life.

"I can't wait to play again, but my only focus at the moment is on my rehab and I'll only look to play again once I'm 100 per cent.

"The boys are doing really well at the moment. I'm in contact with a few of them on a regular basis and I speak to the gaffer (Brendan Rodgers) and chairman (Huw Jenkins) every so often.

"I've got access to Sky and BBC TV out here, so I know exactly how the team is doing.

"I watched the Cardiff City game live on TV and you could see there was nothing negative in the players' game. Everything was positive.

"The gaffer is doing a good job and playing a much more positive system than last season. He is getting the best out of the players and they are giving everything back to him.

"There's a great atmosphere in the squad and I can't wait to be part of it again.''
