Warnock on the ropes after City battering?
Warnock on the ropes after City battering?

Neil Warnock appears to have issued a "come and sack me" broadside to the Leeds United board.

Warnock saw his Leeds United side humbled 4-0 at the home of the English Champions Manchester City in the FA Cup fifth round and announced that even if he did pull off the impossible and win an eighth promotion at Leeds, he will not be sticking around any longer thn when his contract ends in the summer.

"I don't deserve that (abuse) after the year I have had, but I am unlucky to have been at three clubs with three takeovers," Warnock told Sky Sports.

"I understand their feelings and the noise they make shows what sort of club it is. If we go up, the owners know I won't be here and the further away we get (from promotion) the club will be looking to see what they're going to do and, if I can, I will help them."

Defeat at City came on the anniversary Warnock was announced as Simon Grayson's replacement. Warnock at the time spoke of "one last challenge" but it appears to have been bigger than something even a seasoned campaigner such as him could chew.

"I'm living away from home for one last year at promotion," he said. "I'm sure the club will be sensible and in a couple of years they will be back in the big time.

"It's their prerogative (if they want to sack him), if they think it will help, I'm not against it. Whatever is best for Leeds United. But with what's gone on over the last 12 months I think I deserve a medal."

Even as a Warnock fan, who desperately wanted him here the minute Grayson was sacked, I must admit my patience is wearing thin with some of his bizarre team-selections and substitutions.

Iadmit he has had it hard with all the uncertainty regarding the longest takeover in football history and im sure many fans remain unconvinced we are any better off under GFH capital's stewardship.

Prior to the humbling at City, the papers were speculating a move for ex Southampton and Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins which I would support 100% either in the close-season or sooner.

However the truth is that I am so unconvinced by GFH Capital's future plans at the cub I cannot envisage Adkins, who can surely pick and choose his next move, would entertain a switch to ER?
