Dean Gerken is heading to the North East for a month to look for first team football.

The U's shotstopper has played second fiddle to Jimmy Walker since the West Ham loanees arrival, and looks to keep match sharp with his temporary departure.

Speaking about Deano's loan move, goalkeeping coach Ademola Bankole told the official site "I told him (Dean) that it is better for him to go out on loan rather than just sit on the bench here.  No matter how well you train, you can't get better if you don't play."

Bankole also added "He has picked up plenty of experience from Jimmy in the month that he has been here, so it will be really good for him to put that into practice."

Should Gerken be selected this weekend, he will come face to face with another U's loanee, Sunday Wasiu, who joined Luton Town on a months loan today.
