![]() Thursday, 7th Aug 2008 18:15 David Prutton signs on for an extra year. David Prutton should remain a Leeds player, until 2010 at least. The midfielder has put pen-to-paper on a one-year extension today, along with young-keeper Alan Martin who has signed on for another three-years. Prutton, nicknamed Jesus by the Leeds fans because of his long hair, was a one-time protegee of Paul Hart - the former Leeds Youth Coach, who worked his magic at Notts Forest - the darlings of the Football League. Many people forget that Prutton commanded a fee of £2.5m around five years ago, when he moved to Southampton. He did have a brief spell back at Forest at the end of the 2006/07 campaign. However he was unable to inspire Notts to promotion, partly because the Football League did not deduct any points from any of their promotion rivals during that campaign. The lad found himself without a club in the summer of 2007 and deserves much credit for coming anywhere near Leeds, who back then were a crisis club with a capital C and patiently waited whilst the Football League ground their axes and dished out their punishment. Although occasionally, he does have the infuriating habit of giving the ball away, he is more than comfortable at this level of football! So praise be! Oh come let us adore him!
