Derby Signs Young American In Time For Leeds

The Rams have added a new face to their squad as they head to Elland Road for the opening day clash against Leeds united.

Manager Nigel Clough has secured the signature of Conor Doyle who recently had been on trial with the Rams. He obviously made a big impression in the pre-season matches he took part in as he has gone straight into the squad for the opening day of the season

At the age of 18, the most consistent observation of the young midfielder is that he does not look nor play like a youngster, instead shows poise and maturity on the ball beyond his years.

The impressive displays for the Rams in the pre-season have earned him a two year contract which he signed on Friday at Pride Park.

Originating from Texas in the U.S, he has walked away from a scholarship at Creighton University, Nebraska to take the opportunity presented by the Rams.

Doyle played his youth soccer with the ‘Dallas Texans’ Soccer Club and McKinney Boyd High School, from which he graduated in December 2009.

He played in all seven spring exhibitions for the ‘Bluejays’ in 2010, helping the team to a perfect winning record.

Nigel Clough spoke to the official site about his exciting young signing:

"Conor has settled in very quickly and has impressed everyone.  For a player of just 18 years of age he is very mature and has adapted well to English football”.

"It is a big challenge for him and he has made a big decision. We're delighted he has put pen-to-paper and look forward to seeing him develop further in the next two seasons."

Doyle will wear number 23 for the Rams and if cleared is sure to find himself on the bench at Elland road.

From all of us here at RamZone we wish the youngster all the best with his Rams career!
