Lee released by Macclesfield

Dale's Play Off Hero goalkeeper Tommy Lee has been given a free transfer by Macclesfield Town, just days after it was his penalty save which all but took Dale to Wembley.

Lee has found himself playing second fiddle at the Moss Rose this season, after he lost his place in their starting line up through injury. Following on from that, he couldn't dislodge Johnny Brain from the starting eleven.

He moved to Dale at the end of March, and has been a permanent fixture between the sticks ever since. He's made thirteen appearances in a Dale shirt, and with the 22 year old in the side, we have won eight of those games, conceding just twelve goals.

But with Macc manager Keith Alexander surprisingly opting to sign a former Lincoln player in Alan Marriott, there was no room left at the Maccdome for Lee and he was made surplus to requirements.

Speculation will obviously be rife about a possible permanent switch to Dale, but with James Spencer contracted for next season and the out of contract Sam Russell due back from injury, we shall have to wait and see.
