Another we apparently could have signed yesterday according to Gareth Vincent.

Sounds like we needed players out because we are at the limit of our wages. Looks like we will need Bennett and Fulton gone pronto in the summer.

Giles is one of the highest assist contributors in the league.

9 in 19 starts, quite incredible.

Where was the money for those deals coming from? We didn't sell anyone. The aim is to be sustainable, that's been the message since we were relegated.

We wasted two years developing assets for other clubs.

An extra instalment came in, it's not new income just catching up on old. Cashflow so important, but it's not like when DJ reached an apps milestone ahead of schedule and we had an unexpected bonus.

Well it is new because we brought the installment forward (via the bank). That obviously won't be available in future but it was money obtained now that wasn't otherwise available.

I don't know how much it was mind that was brought forward.

Hilarious when you see that the wage bill is already around 50% lower than that of last season! Totally going backwards as a club and that won’t change unless we get new owners willing to show us even the slightest bit of ambition

If we are having to let a senior player go out on loan in order to fund a 20 year old from Shrewsbury, then I would argue that the plan to make us self sufficient hasn't worked.
We have had over £100m in transfer fees, plus 3 years of parachute payments and now don't appear to have the proverbial pot.
I would assume that wasn't the anticipated plan.

Our income is about 50% of last season without the third year parachute payment.

I think many have forgotten how little we all paid to renew our seasons this time last year !

£99 I paid...compared to £300 plus notes the season before and £ 325 this

We came down with £50m or so in future payments out not covered by future payments in. Most of the sales went to paying off those liabilities. Parachute payments barely cover expensive contracts that can't be shifted.

No club is spending 3+ years in the Championship and sitting on a healthy rainy day fund. Clubs are bringing in £12m a year and spending 3x that on their wages. It's a brutal environment. We've done well to post the numbers we have on annual accounts. A £2.7m profit in 19-20 (when the parachute payment was ~£35m) was good going. Last season with covid, and a parachute of only £15m, can't have been so rosy.

The point is that this was all known at the point of relegation. At that point they drew up fiscal plans for the future.
Was the plan to get to year 4 with very little money?
The players developed from the Academy have all gone, now what? Years of loans have left us with little coning through?
Was that the plan?

Only some had the £99 price - the ones who didn't take a refund, so while you have a point it's still going to be something like £200 quid per season spread over the two.

Signing free transfers in their mid to late 20s from Bristol City does not appear to be a good fiscal plan.
They have no sell on value.
Loaning in players that we couldn't afford to buy does not help the clubs assets long term.
Signing 30+ year old centre backs on high wages isn't a long term plan.
So, what is / was the clubs plan for the longer term?
There doesn't appear to be one

its still acut in income ...the refunds meant a change to any previous financnail planning and factor in also the loss of match day revenue....dont take this as excusing the owners by the way just pointing out how things have changed over the last two years financially..the club lost "gate receipts"

There was a hope for Cooper to get us back up by the owners, they failed to secure the forward power he had requested last January then everything fell apart.
The loans Cooper secured I think were seen as convertable should we attain promotion but that all fell apart .

Well at least thats what I think...I reckon the owners gambled on us returning to the PL then were looking to bail

Potter talked about the glass ceiling of the PL being lifted after relegation, allowing all these youngsters to get games and exposure. We benefited massively. And then we put the ceiling back up.

Better for us to produce a £2.5m Swansea City player than a £15m Liverpool or Chelsea one. The opportunities given to loan players under Cooper has cost us now. Short on cash and players seen as ready to contribute.

Hopefully a year from now we'll be in better shape.

Swansea have had a very successful academy and have 12 or so players in the 20-23 age group. Martin is developing Cabango, Obafemi, Piroe, Downes Joseph now Ogbeta in the first team. Only Cabango is an in house player.

Martin either considers the other 7 not good enough or not mature enough.

Cooper B , Cooper O, Garrick, Cullen, Whittaker Benda , Williams are the best 7. Under previous management they did not get 100 games under their belts which Martin mentioned.

Next Summer these 7 return. Garrick, Whittaker, Benda and the Cooper boys will be looking for firt team slots. There should not be the need for anything other than one or two elite transfers. This is the strategy.

There is no sense in extending the expensive contracts of either Smith or Hamer in my view. They will be replaced by Benda and Garrick or Cooper O.

A long way to go before our academy can be considered "very successful". We're a below average producer that had one eye-catching year.

Parachute money cannot be talked about as free cash. Swansea city transitioned from Premier league team to championship team with "no debts " seamlessly. No calamities no cash crunch. Just a bit of "harsh medicine" as outline by Mr Levien.

Potter did not help by wasting £7m on John, Asoro, Celina and McKay. All drummed out by Cooper after the meek surrender in the 5-0 and Loftus Road. Three at least never played again. Potter sulked after his idea of spending £7m on Ryan Woods was rightly vetoed. He was the 'gods gift' at the time. Just like Hull today.

The US people will no longer tolerate risky poor signings. Martin has plenty of work to do to get the like of Obafemi, Wolf , Obetga Burns and Fisher fired up and performing. Wolf was sold to them as a real coup. Lets see it on grass.

But we have got the million pounds stadium naming rights this year.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Risky poor signings made under the watch of the great HJ you mean, John, Asoro,Celina Mackay all brought in whilst he was at the helm....dodhy signings like the resiginig of Bony and Ayew...at least Cooper got something out of Ayew

Keep digging your hole....
