Saints have an early chance to avenge the Hillsborough mauling

Sheffield Wednesday visit St Mary's less than a month after putting Saints to the sword up in Yorkshire and hopefully will get the backlash.

Since then Saints have won two out of the three games played and a win against the Owls followed by another three points against Hull on Saturday would put them right up there in the promotion frame.

However its all if and buts, a win against Wednesday would return the confidence to the side and make it three out of four, but once again Saints injury list mounts.

Perhaps the most missed player will be Phil Ifel who looks to be out for two weeks with an ankle injury, the result of some horrendous tackling on him by Leicester, however Saints do have the resources (just about) to re shuffle, if Viafara is fit then he could be brought into the middle and Davies moved to right back, however it would be wise to keep the partnership of Davies and bennett intact, especially as it looks like it will be a needed for a week or two yet, my vote would be to move Jermaine Wright to right back and bring back Rudi Skacel to left back, many would oppose that but at home it does offer us an attacking option.

I would hope that the midfield would remain unchanged although personally I would put in Viafara instead of Euelland up front John and BWP have deserved their first choice selection, although it will be interesting to see if Burley still trots out his rotation theory as he did as an excuse to drop Rasiak a few weeks back, after all we have four games in fourteen days.

This is a game that Saints must win for several reasons, firstly to keep the momentum going, secondly to get us back into the promotion frame and thirly to win back the fans who are slowly but surely losing faith in both team and manager, the two wins in the last week or so have restored some confidence back in the fan base, but like the team itself its a fragile confidence.

Saints do need another good crowd against Wednesday, the fans may moan about everything from the team selection to the commitment of the executives etc, but if they want to moan then isnt it right that they are actually attending games themselves, ifSaints fans dont want to see players sold in January then they need to go about convincing the board that they are willing to turn up in numbers, if 5,000 more came through the turnstiles each game that would put £200,000 a month into the coffers and go along way towards cutting down potential losses.

"Why should I waste my money" ? some of the missing thousands might say, well why should anyone invest in our club when many of us arent willing to invest in it ourselves is the answer.
