The Taming Of The Shrews?

No matter what happens at Shrewsbury this afternoon, the Swans are guaranteed to end Saturday in no worse than 2nd place behind Scunthorpe but the travelling Jack Army will be hoping for much better and that come 5pm tonight, the league table looks even more healthy for us than it did at 3pm.

After returning to the top of the league on Wednesday night, Kenny Jackett's side will be hoping that they record their first away league win in two months, a statistic that sounds better when you consider that it has been just three league trips during that period - two of which have resulted in 1-1 draws, the other in their only defeat in the last 10 games.

Shrewsbury on the other hand have found themselves embroiled in a potential relegation battle again in their first season back in the league after relegation two years ago. Fans at Gay Meadow will be hoping that league status is retained this time around and a win for them today could see them put some daylight between them and the bottom two places in the football league. That is the size of task facing new manager Gary Peters anyway.

Jackett is likely to feature an unchanged side from that which started the game against Darlington on Wednesday and will also be hoping that they repeat the road success of six days ago when Cheltenham were beaten 3-1 in the FA Cup.

Shrewsbury though have more problems with Sam Aiston, Jamie Tolley and John Grant all definitely missing with Duane Darby also likely to be another casualty.

The Swans odds in winning League Two have been slashed to 9/2 from an early season price of around 14/1 and they are behind only Yeovil at 10/3 to win League Two. Shrewsbury on the other hand have become 6/4 second favourites to be relegated behind only Kidderminster who are ranked at 7/4 on.

In terms of this match alone, Swansea are 6/5 favourites, a home win is 2/1 with the draw at 11/5. Lee Trundle is the 4/1 clear favourite to continue his recent goal scoring run with the first goal.

Lets hope the bookies know what they are talking about this time!
