Portsmouth manager Tony Adams believes that the Swans are a better team than Bristol City

Adams will be planning the downfall of Swansea City on the weekend having negotiated the hurdle of Bristol City in the last round of the competition.

Adams added his name to the ever growing list of managers who have praised the Swans and the way they play football over the last 18 months or so.

Speaking ahead of the game on Saturday, Adams said “It seems like we’ve played half the Championship in the cup over the last year so we know we’re in for a difficult game

“We had Bristol in the last round and we’ve probably got an even better team now.

“Swansea play a 4-3-3 very well. Little Leon Britton is an ex-West Ham player, and they’ve got Darren Pratley from Fulham – good little players there who know how to play their system and know how to pass the ball.

“They’re a good outfit, who pass the ball very well and have lots of possession.

“And, hopefully, we won’t get frustrated by the amount of possession Swansea have, because they will have plenty because they can pass it .

“That’s my fear, that we’ll be all getting frustrated because the fans will be demanding that we turn them over easily.

“But this is by no means an easy game for us – they are a good side.

“I love the way Roberto’s team play and I love the way he encourages his players to get the ball down and play,” he said.

“So it will be tough for us. They beat Reading at the weekend and they play their system very well, pass the ball, keep possession.

“And there is a tendency to go and chase them – but that’s not a good thing to do. So we’ve got to be a bit patient.

“The goalkeeper has been exceptional in the last two games and Sol Campbell has hit a bit of form and we have had players coming back,” he said. “But I’m pleased with the way things have been going.

“I’ve told them we need to be resilient. I don’t use stats like not conceding in the cup as a motivational too, I simply tell them to be resilient. When we debrief we look to see if we’ve achieved that.

“The game against Tottenham was open, which is a little bit worrying, but, with the personnel we’ve got, it’s difficult to get that balance. But we are working every day to make sure we can be tough to beat.”
