Neil Taylor will step back into the side today looking to give his manager a selection headache

The Swansea City defender will deputise today for the suspended Alan Tate knowing that a good performance could see him retain his position next Friday against Portsmouth.

With Garry Monk potentially set to miss out the next couple of games then Taylor knows that he could make a few appearances adding to what has already been an impressive start to his Swansea City career.

“I always want to play, especially because I came in and got a taste for it but then had to sit on the sidelines,” Taylor told the Western Mail “But I understand the team is doing well.

“I knew this was going to be a season where I was trying to make my way into the first team and I did for a while. The back four did so well last year I knew it would take some time for me to work my way in.

“Now I want to be giving the gaffer a problem every week about whether to select me.

“It’s another chance for me to come in and perform and we are going to need the whole squad this season if we are going to do well.

“I’m sure Albert will be thinking the same thing.

“At times in the season we know we are going to get injuries but it is important everyone who comes in is as strong as those missing.

“I don’t have to worry about keeping me feet on the ground because I know I will.

“I’m happy with how I have done so far but you’ve got to strive to get better.

“I know there are aspects of my game I need to work on. The gaffer’s been great with me and we’ve spoken about things I will need to improve if I am going to step up and keep progressing.

“Playing next to the likes of Ash and Gary is great, they’ve got as much experience as anyone in this league which it makes it easy for me.

“If you get carried away with yourself down here someone will rein you in.

“But every player at Swansea is very level-headed and keeps his feet on the ground.”
