Boss says Pompey will be ready for Shrews test Thursday, 25th Jan 2018 21:31 by pompey-fans.com staff Kenny Jackett has no worries over his players' desire to do well - despite them failing to win in their last three league outings. He anticipates the Blues being up for the challenge they will be set when third-placed Shrewsbury visit Fratton Park on Saturday. Defeats at Bristol Rovers and Rotherham and a draw at home to Scunthorpe have left Pompey a little off the pace in their bid to make the play-offs. But Jackett said the players' effort levels were high. He told the club website: 'The training has been good and our players’ professionalism and desire has never been in question. They always work hard and want to do well, so there’s plenty of optimism around the place ahead of Saturday’s game. 'We’ve got a determined bunch here and it’s been no different this week. We’ve had plenty of tight games and unfortunately we’ve been on the wrong end of that recently. So we’ll keep our heart, commitment and battling abilities because the way we’ve defended generally has been encouraging. But of course we do also want to add things in certain areas to give us a bit more quality going forward.'
