One aspect of this war between motorists and cyclists that invariably gets overlooked is that in one important respect, they should both be on the same side. That is, there are actually two types of motorist, those who need to use their vehicles and those who don't, but just want to, essentially from selfishness/laziness. Thing is, if you discourage/inhibit/restrict the latter category, while simultaneously promoting cycling, the resulting decrease in congestion benefits the former, while the reduced pollution etc benefits everyone else. But it seems to be the selfish/lazy lot who make the most noise, just because they can no longer drive their Chiswick Tractor a quarter of a mile down the road and park outside Waitrose, while they pick up some onions and a bottle of Prosecco. |

There is a company which supplies Portaloos to public events etc. The motto on the side of their lorries is: "No.1 in the business of No.2's" Though maybe it's not so clever, since although I can remember the motto, I don't remember the name of the company. [Post edited 2 Jun 16:27]

A man was coming towards me carrying a tray of drinks. He had a Dortmund hat, scarf, shirt and a tatoo on his leg. I stepped back to let him through as he passed me he satd. " Cheers Pal" in the broadest Scottish Accent i was taken aback. A Scotsman buying a round of drinks? "Taken aback" doesn't begin to cover it! |

I know CHR quite well, indeed travelled the length of it just last week, by bus.. I really don't recognise your description of it as having been "ruined" by the cycle lane. And as for spending "30 minutes" to get over the lights at Turnham Green Terrace, that's complete nonsense. You may have a case to make, but you really don't help it by such ludicrous exagerration - quite the opposite, in fact. |

Re Juve replacing their old, rather stylish crest with a simple "J" design, this came soon after Jeep became the club's main sponsor. The letter "J" features prominently in all Jeep's adverting, naturally enough. Coincidence? I think not. |

A few years back, when the West London cycleway was being extended through Chiswick, the local car lobby started protesting about this, often quite vehemently. One of their complaints was that the cycle way interefered with bus lanes. Then someone went back through the archives to when the bus lanes themselves were first introduced, and found the EXACT SAME protestestors complaining about them, too! This embarrassed them. For about four minutes. |

Apparently the regular football dressing rooms, which are top notch, are in one stand. But for NFL, they've built an entirely separate set of dressing rooms in the stand opposite - NFL squads are so massive, not just players, but coaches, physios, analysts etc, that they would struggle to fit in the football dressing rooms. |

"I'm treating the wife to a weekend in Bath for our Anniversary." Here is a notable Bath-based company you might like to visit: https://www.lovehoney.net/ I only know this because I know someone who lives over the road from their warehouse, you can see the company sign from his kitchen window. |

Do you imagine that inconsiderate drivers only behave dangerously like this to cyclists? That is, they would never behave like this to you when you're in your car, or walking along the street? And as for drivers who have dashcams and may use footage to prosecute other dangerous road users, whether drivers or cyclists, are they "grasses" too? |

Not just a (former) professional cyclist: "Former Olympic cyclist Chris Boardman has spoken of his frustration that no one has been charged one year after his mother was killed in a fatal crash. Carol Boardman died after her bike collided with a pick-up truck in Connah's Quay, Flintshire, last July." https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-north-east-wales-40709480 |

Not so sure about Postecoglu. Spurs "only" had 41 games this season, causing him to say: 'Definitely, yeah,' said the Spurs boss when asked if he wanted more games. 'For us, a club who want to compete at the highest level against the best, you need a strong squad and to have a strong squad you need consistent games and consistent game time and opportunities. 'At the moment, if we get an injury, we're liable to throw somebody who hasn't played for four or five weeks. It's not easy on that player, whereas if you've got games, there's a natural rotation and also gives you a little bit of rhythm. 'I had the other extreme at Celtic, but I found that a lot easier to manage than having less games or having a disrupted season like we've had this year.' https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-13147235/Ange-Postecoglou-rhy Agree this Melbourne game is ridiculous, though. I think Spurs fans once sang after he had a goal disallowed against them: "His eyes were offside, his eyes were offsi-i-ide, Mezut Ozil, his eyes were offside" (This would have been before VAR was drawing lines across the screen) |

There's no doubt that a lot of younger people are being squeezed hard, but whatever the percentages, it's not every single one. Meaning there are still many out there who still have disposable income. And as for the boomers, there are still millions of those in their late 40's, 50's and early 60's (i.e. not yet Seniors) who are numerous enough on their own to fill stadiums. Those two groups are both actively targeted by clubs' marketing departments, while the rest, including "Legacy fans" can go to Hell. Or why do you think they keep sending out fan, sorry, customer surveys enquiring about your "matchday experience", including age and how much you're spending? |

And it's not just the discount on the ticket price for concessions. They've also worked out that a lot of Seniors just come for the game, maybe have a beer at H-T, then go home afterwards. Whereas they want (younger, wealthier) fans who will get to the stadium an hour or two before kick-off, spend money on food and drink etc, maybe even stay on for a bit afterwards - Spurs new ground is very well set up for that. That and a succession of tourists and casuals every game who will pay premium prices for their seat and drop £100 in the souvenir shop. |

At Brentford it's 65 (always has been?). While at Spurs it's also 65, but this is the last season that they'll grant a Senior concession to anyone. That is, you'll need to have turned 65 by the cut-off date (01 June?). After that there will be no more new Seniors, only existing renewers. Worse still, while the present discount is a generous 50%, they're going to reduce it by 5% a season for 5 seasons i.e. until it gets down to 25%. |

When Forest played Everton as recently as December, their fans took great delight in slagging off the Toffees with chants of "Cheat, cheat". "As ye sow, so shall ye reap..." |

"Except that they're offering the product for free" To start with. The thinking presumably being that (a ) they have to offer a gimmick like this to have any chance of getting off the ground; and (b ) once it's done so, and it has screwed UEFA and the CL etc, then they start charging. Pure desperation. |
