Citee suing the Prem
at 05:52 6 Jun 2024

Utterly abhorrent. Yes, FFP / P&S are flawed and work in favour of the big clubs, but there is something very, very wrong about signing up to the rules and then crying foul when you fail to follow them. If they win, you might as well give up and just let them take over from the Premier League.

BUT, if they do then surely that MUST set a legal precedent for QPR and other teams punished by such rules to challenge. If it was/ is unfair all along then it has to bring those decisions back into the spotlight.

Just like QPR were, Citee MUST be tried against the rules in place that they signed up to and charged accordingly. If those rules are then deemed unfair, the Prem then need to change those rules, but AFTER the punishment..

What will happen though is that this will be used in some way to reduce their punishment to a fine lower than the one we got with a "light" transfer embargo and no other punishment. They will then be freed up to do wtf they want.

Unless the rules are truly illegal, it has to be a condition of membership of the FA and the Premier League to sign up to the rules and agree to abide by them WITHOUT resorting to the courts. The authorities attitude should ALWAYS be: "if you REALLY want to take us to court, fine, but we revoke your membership". Surely, they have that right?

I suppose they do, but they do not have the spine to do any such thing...

Begovic - Best QPR Goalie in Years
at 06:50 2 Jun 2024

Come on, mate, this is the internet, so he is either the best EVER or the worst EVER. No middle ground, no fence to sit on.

Leaving Plymouth he was utterly the anti-christ so I'll stick with that for the www.

He had good moments, but is simply too old for one more season imo. If we do sign him, I think that he will cost us more than he saves us next season..

By the stats AND the eye test, he fails for me,

Let's hope that our new data driven world sees that...

QPR Cash

Bit of a con that the Flex 3, Flex 5 and Flex 8 tickets give you ZERO QPR Cash though. When you factor in that a couple of the games also had offers of tix for £10 will make me think twice about buying them next season...

Confession time - Play off winners
at 07:30 28 May 2024

No need to apologise, Fred, I know that I am a negative so and so. Not half full or half empty, more "what glass"? But that was a "succesful" QPR team that I didn't like, which is rare.

I loved them all through the 80s into the early 90s (although that might be to do with the fact that was my childhood 'til my mid 20s!). I adored (and still adore) Oan Holloway for how he saved the club and pulled us all together and I actually liked us under Warburton.

BUT that play-off winning team felt dirty and horrible. Having cash doesn't suit us I guess...

Aside from Clint Hill, Jamie Mackie, Richard Dunne, Chief, Danny Simpson and Shaun Derry I really did not like our Play-off winning team that much. The feature on the website reminded me that Rob Green was an over paid unnecessary goalkeeper, Bobby Z did nothing at all in a QPR shirt aside from THAT winner and the goal against WBA and that I am in the minority about Charlie Austin - great player for us, but not that like-able.

Barton can do one, SWP was useless, Traore was just odd, Krancjar and Benayoun were just "meh", Assoit-Ekotto felt unnecessary, then there was Doyle, Aaron Hughes, Ravel Morrison, Jermaine Jenas, Johnson, Will Keane, Maiga manaaged by the Uber Tosspot in Harry Redknapp.

Am I alone?

Wanted him to succeed, but way out of his depth in the Championship unfortunately. Was appalled when he got an extension at the beginning of the season and can only guess that he was all we could afford.

Gubbins next SURELY.

He won't be alone. GK coach maybe, but he cannot be first choice. He was visibly declining game on game during Feb through to April...

That was just the half time score too. Lyndon redemption arc starts this summer. 8 goals, golden boot and a £40m transfer to Man U.

You heard it here first (and probably never again tbf...).

Just like Dickie last year - if he does not want to be here and / or is asking for a wedge we can't afford, then seeya.

No clapping on a return and no booing; you are just another oppo player that I'll want to fall on his arse after missing an open goal.

Not worth thinking or posting about unless he has a massive turn round and signs.

I mean, what has he given us in return for being picked up from Benfica's reserves when no-one else wanted him? We've not won anything because of him so "meh".

Bye.

Great thread.

The team that finished last season was well on its way to being THE worst team the Championship had ever seen and it managed to get worse over the summer.

I have never been so certain that squad with that manager were going to break all sorts of records in this league. I did not think we'd get to thirty goals and certainly weren't going to get to thirty points. It was awful, awful, awful.

When I stopped going to games KNOWING we'd lose, which was when we started to compete was when I thought we've a chance. Watford (h) was the point for me. Even though we lost, it was only because of two worldies from a carthorse and two great saves from their 'keeper. Part of me thought that it would be typical to start getting unlucky when we started to play, but the logical part could see the improvement.

But it swung back and forth. Plymouth (a) was a low point because after the Easter weekend I thought we were home and hosed. Begavic's aberration felt terminal as did the results the following weekend.

I view this season as a really lucky escape and just hope for mid table obscurity next season. Compete in every game and let's not embarrass ourselves just like we did under Ainsworth.

How far ahead do QPR need to be for you to feel safe from losing !!

Three.

Its the magic number.

Ridiculous really, but can't ever feel confident with our lot.

That said, there is so much evidence around to say that going one up in modern football gives you a MASSIVE advantage over the game. Score first and we SHOULD be more comfortable, but it never feels that way...

Dickie off
at 10:13 28 Apr 2024

He did not want to be here and, frankly, put some disgraceful performances alongside Dunne in the horror show that was the second half of last season. A cowardly player who sulked and did not want to fight for the club. Rat deserting a sinking ship who could not wait 'til he could get away.

Outplayed by Dykes at Ashton Gate and I really hope we finish above them from next season.

Yes, he started well with us and is obviously a good championship player, yes he seems like a nice guy, but I carry a little hate for many of that class of '22-23 who so clearly underperformed. At least Chair, Willock, Dunne, Paal and a couple of others redeemed themselves under Marti; Dickie did not and for that reason, he'll never get a decent welcome back from me.
