Aye when it comes to bank cashpoint scams, pickpocketing, fake homeless rackets and drug gangs etc this country has never been so 'enriched'. "Say it loud, say it clear the entire worlds vermin are welcome here". In fact why not aid and abet the overly ambitious foreign sort with "safe and legal routes" to show up without any I.D/DBS documentation....That'll aid and abet crime statistics and act as a deterrent ????

The underfunding of services over the last 14 years has allowed these people to do this sort of thing.

Bulgarian Gang Convicted Of £50M Universal Credit Fraud ... on 16:24 - Apr 10 with 2330 views | AnotherJohn | The depressing thing is that there are those in the "refugees welcome" camp who will "tut, tut" a little, but say that tolerating incomers like these is a price worth paying to maintain the UK's reputation as a humane liberal democracy. However, for others of us there is a sense of things getting out of hand. I worry about a growing tide of negative sentiment that will have detrimental impact on honest persons who migrated to the UK within the rules and never cause any problems.

The whole point of safe routes is to weed out illegals and be able to send them back more easily and quickly. Then those with a genuine claim or reason for coming here can be processed. The big problem is in having a government that is so utterly useless. They cut border staff, they ut police, they cut support services and they expect those left to do the same job but with a massively increased number of immigrants It's the same approach they took with the NHS, a big rise in population and so a big rise in patients combined with a cut in staff and resources, that applies to schools too. If the UK was a corporation we'd have gone bust years ago and the current government would most likely be looking at the very least at a police investigation. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

The gulf between rich and poor has widened significantly. Some earning massive money for doing a shit job. Pay them what they are worth, and put the rest into public spending.

Unfortunately while we were part of the EU we could not stop people from the rest of the EU moving here. You can hardly weed out illegals as they had a legal right to move to any EU country. Clearly the UK was a paradise, with generous benefits wages etc, for those coming from former impoverished Soviet block countries.

Nigel Farage was called a racist for suggesting this would happen around ten years ago. Now we see every day news about Albanian, Bulgarian and Romanian criminals taking the absolute piss. And the worst thing is it’s only the tip of the iceberg. For every gang they catch there’s probably another 50 still operating with impunity. It’s an absolute failure of government that we are actively importing so many criminals who only want to harm us.

Ahhh so the point is to weed out illegals? So that means that many will still be arriving small boats even if without I.D, and with I.D they will be shipped over here via U.K government assistance. And if 200,000 show up every year, because the U.K has advertised its 'aid and abet' open border policy.? Load up the C130's and HMS Bulwark!!!! Yeah that'll really keep numbers to sustainable levels? "Righty tighty lefty loosey".

I just watched tonight's ITV News report. It mentioned Vietnamese travelling to France to cross the ocean in a small boat, so that they can be employed in the drug sector. One scene showed (Reporter estimate) a hundred immigrants on a boat. He mentioned another six hundred being thwarted by French-Dunkirk police that very same day. He also mentioned violent attacks upon French police!!!! And the reason Suella Braverman refused 'safe and legal' routes from Sudan is imo because I guess it would have created a mass exodus of hundreds of thousands, or maybe even millions? And even if people showed up at 'safe and legal route' open passage where are they to be housed. once they arrive in the U.K? Talk about opening "a second front"!!!! The lunacy of these politicians and WOKE nut jobs who advocate it is off the scale! FFS look what has happened in America!

Aye, "Too dangerous for police" at times on coastal French beaches according to ITV news. That does not bode well for the future of U.K society and law and order now does it? If French beaches have become threatening and intimidating places for French police what will U.K streets be like when these people are walking upon them? The U.K is importing an underclass and criminal subculture in shocking numbers!

Many imports from Eastern Europe are hard working people just like many of us on here, they come here because they want a better quality of life, get better jobs, earn more money and have better opportunities for their kids. There are also those scumbags who come here to cheat, steal and prey on the vulnerable, but they are in the minority, the good far out way the bad. I had the misfortune to be have 2 family members in a local hospital over the last 7 days, they were cared for by Poles, Czechs, Filipino’s, Syrians, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Indian, English and Welsh people who all work together to treat people. I’ve also recently had cause to visit a large factory employing about 1200 workers in the South Wales area. It’s hard graft, pays not great and most of the workers on the production line are Eastern European, but it’s 1200 workers paying tax and NI when indigenous British workers can’t be bothered to get off their backside to work because of the cushty benefit lifestyle they enjoy. What would happen if this company didn’t have the Eastern Europeans (and other the nationalities) working there? They’d shut up shop, the jobs would go, the government would the lose tax from the company’s profits, the local economy would suffer etc etc. The reason why the Treasury have been reluctant to alter the salary level for the visa threshold is to ensure companies in the U.K. can still recruit workers when Brits don’t want to work. I know a polish guy who’s joined the British police, he came here, worked as a carer in a care home, became a special constable, then a PCSO and now he’s a cop. In relation to this particular case, it’s happened over 4 1/2 years between 2016 and 2021, a time when our public services including border control, policing, HMRC etc have been cut to the bone, but we’re not hearing much about that. We’re getting plenty of BS from government and a marked lack of action, the government should tweak Article 8 of the Human Rights Act so that the right to a family life is subject to a “conducive to the public good” test - in short if you commit crime you’re out and the appeals system should be expeditious, not subject to extended delays which they are now. I’d also require anyone who wants to claim benefits to provide biometric ID, for example a finger/thumb print which would be kept on a secure system to prevent an individual claiming in multiple names. There’s good and bad everywhere, what we need are robust and effective practices to boot the bad out and that comes down to governance and law - it’s an area where we’re lacking.

It probably is. Look at what happened with the Covid frauds, they reckon £7bn was rinsed by fraudsters; look at the PPE scandal hundreds of millions of pounds worth of contracts went to people with “connections” - some of the equipment was completely unfit for purpose - the Mone contracts were £200m on their own.

We had the right to deport people who were unable to financially support themselves after arriving here and we also had the right to deport foreign nationals who committed crime in the U.K., but we hardly ever did it. You need good systems, a robust process, good administrative systems, the judiciary and government departments to talk to each other. We ain’t got great systems in place.

By coincidence, I just heard on BBC Radio 4 that the problem I mentioned is the subject of the Today podcast this week, which features an interview with Philip Hammond. The former Chancellor highlights this triple problem of record public spending, record public borrowing, and rising demand for public services. He says the latter involves the big structural issues of demand for general public services from an older and bigger population, as well as current pressures to spend more on decarbonisation and defence. He says that the public doesn't want to hear this story and instead expects politicians to provide easy solutions, including by implausible policies such as targeting tax dodgers or the rich. In his view the only real solution is higher per capita productivity, but this us very difficult.

What are the actual rules then? I thought asylum seeking is to get away from risk of death in your own country, or something really bad like that. Hence, Ukrainians, Afghans and others from war zones or abusing governments. What’s going on in Bulgaria that they can’t stay there?
