Thanks Clive.
The blue border has spread into the text as happens sometimes. Are you able to fix so can read?

Extremely reasonable and articulate, especially given the circumatsnces.

Thanks Clive.

Makes so much sense as usual, but sobering to think that quite literally some players are choosing not to play. Professionalism and self pride replaced by ego and wealth.

Food for thought.
During the early 90’s the players would play with many different injuries. Many would have injections before every match (not recommended of course) like Wegerle and Wilson. Holloway had a hernia operation on the Saturday and the following Saturday was winning the 6 mile club cross country run in pre season. They battled through and played with all sorts .

Except one, who ONLY played if he felt 100% right.

Our DoF. Hence we had a wealth of cover in that period, like Bradley Allen, Gary Penrice, Dennis Bailey, Garry Thompson, Devon White and latterly Gallen And Dichio.

Not blaming him but I wonder if that culture has been allowed to develop under his guise?
Don’t know but worth thinking about .

Agree with most of that, but there is one flaw in the logic surrounding loan/out of contract players.

How is playing only a handful of decent games and then being out forever going to help any player get a new contract/decent loan next season?

For example, I can't see Man Utd or ANY PL club looking at Laird and thinking "Yep, he's the sort of bloke we need next season"

Let’s pick this up again when we see where he ends up.
My prediction is he gets another very nice loan regardless.

Thanks Clive. Spot on as usual.

One sliver of hope for today is they don't have any of our ex-players (which also complicates today's betting strategy).

You could be right, which once again, shows the strange way football works at times!

"Mummy, I don't feel well and can't go to school today!"

"Really, Johnny? (insert names of choice here!). You were fine last night and through the night! What's wrong?"

"It's my left calf (insert body part of choice here!) - again"

" Oh Johnny, really! You know that the doctor and your trainer (insert how ever many numbers you want here) has looked at that and said that there is no problem and everything is fine!!"

"But mummy, what do they know! It is MY body and I know whether it hurts or not! I am not going to School!!"

"Dear dear dear Johnny! Those doctors are very qualified and are paid lots of money to make sure everything is ok and they have specialised equipment to check!!"

" But mummy, they don't know, they can't tell and when they poke my leg and I say 'Ouch that really hurts!!' I know it is not right!"

" But Johnny, I have been poking your calf all the while you have been talking to me and you haven't said 'Ouch once!!!'

" You have???"

"Yes, all the time you have been talking!"

"OUUCCHHH Mum, my leg REALLY hurts now!! I cannot go to School for two (insert number as applicable) months . Ouch Ouch Mummy, Ouch. It hurts - it really really does- I'm not making it up mummy, really I am not !"

"But Johnny, I have been poking the right calf all the time NOT the left!"

"Oh mummy, mummy, NOW my right calf hurts, it really does"

"Oh dear, those doctors! Why do they get paid if they cannot see how hurt your are and there are so many of them! No point my calling the doctor who looks after left calves today, I'll call the specialist who looks after right calf muscles and see if he can help but I doubt it"

"Me too mummy (chuckle) - I doubt it too (chortle) Thanks mummy!"

Haven't said it for a while Clive, so thanks for being the only bright star in this obsession through this very dark period.

When Laird started so well under Beale we said he was too good for the Championship and were afraid Utd would recall him .
I have watched the last 5 Utd games and apart from that Liverpool fiasco their back line is incredible.
There is ZERO chance Laird breaks into that first 11 and probably not even the match day squad .
He is much better off playing every week in the Championship IMO.
Of course he has thrown in the towel with us sadly

It seems that we can afford to pay players of two contrasting types -
(1) Talented at Championship level but fragile
or
(2) Reliable and durable of League One or low Championship standard

You pays your money and takes your choice but don't expect the club to be able sign the best of both worlds unless we are lucky.
