Single file Queuing.. in pubs!
at 15:48 8 Jun 2024

That's down to straightforward manners though is't it? Someone like that is going to fcuk about with the queue too I'd imagine.

Anyway a prime location to witness a spontaneous queue this time of year is the Old Ship by the river. I'm not saying there's a definite correlation, but it normally coincides with the presence of a regaaaaata.

Good stuff, thanks for posting. Nothing like your childhood friends for keeping your feet on the ground. Double hip operation at 15 - didn't know about that, must have been hell. May explain a lot of his outside work.

Jimmy seems genuinely positive about us. I think players will always be aware these days they should talk up the fans but that stuff with FFP is revealing I think.

Great news anyway. Let's get another in and let them battle it out.

Straw-clutching, but he may be over stating his 'talks' with us to help with interest / negotiations elsewhere.

Giving this a bump just in case.

If there's no takers I might ask Nourry for a few words.

Mr Bump easily. He's even blue and white hooped in a sense.

When I was a kid my parents bought my brother and I a Mr Man each, but gave me Mr Snow and my brother Mr Bump, thus creating a rift of Kane and Abel proportions ever since.

Hoping the history buffs on here can help a friend out.

He is putting together a history of Southall FC, and is looking to find out more about Harry Young, who played for both clubs and was a POW in world War 2.

Any info or pointers greatly appreciated.

Dykes injured?
at 12:13 2 Jun 2024

McDonald was '86 sadly. There was Ilias at the WC of course, but that involved looking for him on the bench.

I'm going to try to look at the whole Dykes situation differently now, can't see much other option: He seems to have a good relationship with his fellow players and will need their support in the recovery. We may as well hope now that he can come through it, recover fully and then maybe get back to doing some of that slightly dropped in, linking work that had been going well for a handful of games.

Ideally he'll be coming back into a team with a bit more quality and form about it. I was eager for him to move on but it's not happening now surely so (even though I hate this phrase) it is what it is.

It is mate - good choice on a day like that.

I would urge you now to resist when people start talking about brunch - $15 for an egg - fcuk that!

I have to agree - it seems to be in full sentences but will you remember writing this Dylan? Stay away from the paint aisle in Home Depot.

QPR Cash

If the QPR cash carried over they'd have to come up with increasingly extravagant rewards which would take up far too much office brain-time and wreck the environment.

Poor buggers at Parcelforce delivering 100 kgs of flat packed QPR greenhouse, people squeezing on the 237 bus with their QPR paddling pools, it would be mayhem.

I think he's saying this niggle has given him the chance to get his Halloween decorations up nice and early, and he's finally convinced the wife to move the champagne bucket.

Hope he recovers in time anyway.

Life changing moments
at 18:32 31 May 2024

I had the same experience, and have wondered quite a while later if I should have been. Sorry for your loss, WWC.

But the OP seems to have had quite a nicely peppered set of experiences if I may say so. Great question though. I suppose what's life changing is by definition a subjective thing - some amazing examples so far.

I was supposed to get up and go to the gym on 9/11, and failed, but that wouldn't have led to any more than quite a lot of running and dust. Was involved in a handful of controlled explosion situations like anyone from NI in the 80s, but again never felt really at risk. I do think sometimes these things affect you later on - I'd have a hard time finding you a properly sane friend from my childhood, but that could be any number of factors.

Wanton satiation is exactly the sort of behaviour that the technical game model has been implemented to eradicate!

Sinclair knew that full well when he was ordering said bovine based carb-protein calorie acceleration comestible.

Apparently his innate hunger means he is suited to our technical game model. I'd say that's fair.

The Final: Attack on Wembley - Netflix
at 10:09 29 May 2024

Hopefully this opinion isn't a spackman, but we also have to remember it's only Netflix.

I'd class their various documentaries as infotainment mainly, and as long I manage that expectation I do generally enjoy them. I watched a Spanish one about The King of Cachopo at the weekend which was a good laugh - what a nutter. And I've started to watch that Ashley Madison guff after multiple requests from the wife (no idea why...).

Stating the obvious, but even the more respected
documentaries need to be looked at as the director's view on it. Capturing the Friedman's is one example where you definitely need a good read around afterwards to get a bit more of the picture.

I'll probably give in and watch the Wembley one, and probably regret it. As I get older I find it increasingly difficult to keep those very real wider contextual factors in mind when confronted by arsehole behaviour.
