Rampant R's to Brum Rush The Show Match Thread
at 19:28 17 Oct 2026

I sat though it on TV and think it was just a bad day against a very good team. They were physical , quick on the break and took their chances. I felt that at 2-0, JS had given the game up and wasn’t going to risk Madsen for a lost cause. At 1-0 it may have been different with subs. We dud keep trying , albeit ineffectively.
We are top 10 have some good players coming through. Well ahead of a lot of pre-season predictions. Unlike some posters today I do not think we are suddenly a 16th place team any more than I thought we were a top six team with our injury prone squad.
Frustrating but not calamitous ..

Charles's gambit

I loved it. It showed how Derby were unwilling to come into our half. Took the p**s out of their negativity superbly. At one point the no 9 stated forward but was waved back by his bench to keep “the formation”.
To have such a young keeper who can completely undermine the opposition confidence is one of the most exciting things we have had at LR for a while. I don’t think we have had a player since Adel creating that kind of fear. It reminds me of Stoke with Delap’s throw ins. Teams got so worried they gave away corners rather than give him a throw in.
Credit to the Manager and team for letting him do it.

Norwegian R's

I remeber having a Norwegian penpal in the late 70s. He was a lad from Oslo who had written a letter in the programme. We exchanged letters ( ask your Mums to explain ) for a while and I think I sent him a scarf and badge. Pre- cheap flights so few of them were able to come over.

The Schnoor is a fascinating old part in the centre. About an hour walking around and don’t miss the clock chiming on the hour-a performance in itself. The Ratskeller serves a good traditional German dinner with a vast wine list in an atmospheric cellar under the town hall. best to book.
Werder is a good atmosphere and stadium if they are at home.
Weekend brunch at the Mulle is huge and extends to fizzy wine after midday.

Crazy how difficult it is to see here. For the last 50+ years anyone could pop over to Bayeux and see it. No crowds and no queues .imagine that will be the same once it goes back to Normandy

Man City - GUILTY
at 20:00 28 Sep 2026

I was lucky enough to be there . I remember the news that we had survived coming through several
Minutes before the end and our bench celebrating. Our players were aware. As no one wanted Manure and Fergie to win another title, hardly surprising we let our guard down . It made for great celebrations around the stadium. Most of the City fans there were still proper fans who had been to the 3rd Division and back.

Valiant Hearts and To be a Pilgrim( from which are the lines quoted here) are two different hymns. The latter which is about striving against difficulties and has no military connections is still sung in churches. It is my favourite hymn as well as my Old School’s song .

It’s because they are made of glass that we can afford them. The Premiership players have quality and stamina to avoid injury. They are priced accordingly.

The Dennis Cirkin song
at 07:53 15 Sep 2026

Social class has nothing to do with it. I’m sure the Hooray Henryrugger boys would find this as hilarious as their equally offensive songs. The trouble with this song is it offensive without any wit, or context to make it acceptable.

I doubt Cirkin likes it. Imagine his family asking “what song do they sing about you?
Reply it’s about Victoria Beckhams fanny smelling. Nothing to do with me or football or the last 24years

The best song in recent years imo was the adaptation of Last Christmas. Funny, topical
and in context. Nothing offensive at all.

Which was bad enough when Utd fans started it about Manchester in the 80s and we seem to be the only club still singing it . Embarrassing.

I thought we played well given Charlton’s poor attitude. They were very effective with their low block, but for a team at home who could have gone top if they won, they let their fans down. No interest in winning and some time-wasting.
I got excited by a 4 4 2 team , but then frustrated that we played Lloyd wide on the right and Burrellon his own. Lloyd should have been used to help Burrell and two fast attackers in the centre would have been more of a challenge. Lloyd is not a winger.
Ronnie had an excellent game. The guy behind me calling him a c**t for his last minute shot clearly had no sense of proportion or gratitude. Lamptey, Kamara and Cirkin all impressed me. Mbengue should have been used earlier as he created 3 good chances once he was on. Against opposition playing so deep , his defensive frailty wouldn’t have mattered as much.
Jimmy shouldn’t have started the second half after limping off at HT. Hopefully it is a minor niggle.
We played some nice football. We struggled to provide a threat in the box. We are 4th with 11 points. If we beat PNE we will have 14 from the first 8 games. Good enough for me.

Awful team selection

Listening to the JS post-match interview suggested that he picks the team and formation , but must follow the fitness team on how long he is allowed to play any individual player or if someone has to be rested.

Beg, Boro or Steal QPR Vs Middlesborough Match Thread

Last season I thought Boro were the best team we played. (Cov away was in part down to us being useless) .
I would be happy with a draw. I fear 1-2 loss .
