At the start of the season, I picked Poku to be my stand out player.
Yesterday he showed glimpses of why my choice has some merit, but more as to why he won't be! He's got the skills, but he really can be the most infuriating individual at times. Yesterday: hesitancy mixed with poor choices and execution let him down and will continue to do so until he gets a bit of gravel in his belly and belief in his head.
On the day football remembers those that fell in battle, Lloydy burst out of the trenches advanced toward the enemy and under live ammo, pulled up lame in the process. We shall wear our poppies for him.
He shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary nim, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember him.
When GB86 wakes from his slumbers and the aroma from his morning arabica wafts through his nostrils, he'll realise some inalienable facts. First, he was built on the brilliance of Bowles; the magic of Marsh; the sheer unadulterated tenacity of Taarabt, and that he stands tall on the shoulders of the men of 67!
His character is chiseled from the same granite that made Jimmy Dunne. When he sashays into the room, then it should be with the swagger of Simon Stainrod, probably wearing a fedora, and that if he does this in Southampton, then he is doing it in front of men who still find Benny Hill hilarious and fantasise over an ugly rotund Channel islander, who simply isn't fit to look in the same mirror as Gorgeous Ronnie.
GaryBannister 86 might be experiencing early-onset manopause, but he should do so in the full knowledge, heart, and belief of a man who is: QPR, with all that this entails and all the glory that it will shower upon him one day soon!
First half we failed to capitalise on our play which was, at times, threatening to run amok. Second half they totally capitalised on their play, and they ran amok.
Ok, maybe I'm overstating our first half, but the fact was, there were fine margins which, if you don't cash in when you're doing well, you're inevitably going to pay against teams like Soton in this division.
Like the Brum game: we showed enough about us. But we didn't cash in when chances appeared and paid for sloppyness. We're still doing ok, and we're still good to watch.
Whatever has happened at Wigan, its extremely unlikely he'll play for us again. Indeed, if he did, it'd be a worry. Not sure how long he's got on his contract with us, but hopefully from our perspective: not beyond this season!
Now when we signed him, he was hailed as a prospect and as I recall, he joined up for England training or something. To what extent his lack of progress is down to us is what needs addressing so that we tighten up on development of players.
Anyway good luvk to him as he's clearly at a crossroads in his career.
I've lived in countries where my employer has advised I have a bug-out bag ready and we've had emergency plans in place, and the government does public advisories on what to do, if! What Streeting should have said, in a downplay manner: always wise to have a few days supply on hand, just in case.
As pandemics go, Covid was a low-level one. If it were anything as virulant and had the morbidity rate of the Spanish flu pandemic, we would have been f....d! Thankfully it didn't, and we got through with delivery drivers, Zoom, and Netflix, and that's because many people were able to keep things moving. And yet, it wasn't as if we got through by use of common sense as opposed to luck in my view, and we've not come out of it better.
Wilkins' assessment above, is bang on! There are too many lazy twunts draining systems who expect their state to fund them at one end of he scale; with too many self-entitled twunts/corporations not paying tax at the other end. The middle who are/want or did work, are squeezed beyond reason.
Instead of raising retirement ages (at a time when AI will take away many jobs) so that those who are working continue to shoulder the burden; we need to approach the fiscal issues by looking at those who won't work (as opposed to those who can't) and those who don't (often through lawful means) have anywhere near their fair share of tax responsibilities.
The system, as is, cannot continue! Throw in the issues of the environment and whatever AI might bring, if we steer the ship through the choppy waters we're heading towards, I'll be amazed as I will be delighted.
Indeed, I've been saying since Covid: if we get past 2030 intact, I'll be happily surprised.
Yet to score a hattrick inside 15 minutes against a team top of the Championship! If I were Kone, I'd be a bit miffed.
That said, when Harry hangs up his boots, England will truly miss him. Humble, honest, and not a hint of sleaze or William large testicles behaviour either. Well done Harry.
If you'd offered QPR the start we've had, when Adamson came on for Kemper and us going one-down at Pompey, you'd have bitten their hand off. And if you didn't, then you'd be the biggest idiot going.
We have been superb, and at times, a joy to watch!
Long may it continue, but we should expect some sticky stuff along the road but for now: enjoy! It's effing good in parts!!
