So out of interest, who is your choice for our next manager SE? Not a contentious challenge, I am genuinely interested to hear. |

If we’re a 16th place team squad then surely you would have a 16th place manager. I personally think JS is better than that, so we should keep him and give him time. I’m in your corner numpty let’s stick with him and give him a proper multi-season run at it (with a fit squad too). Now … talk about the fitness and player performance director and that’s a different topic! He’s had his run! |
 | Forum Reply | Walsh at 09:27 25 Feb 2026
He had a shocker, no doubt. Plenty will be saying he’s useless but that’s harsh on the guy. He has been improving since coming back from his injury and needs to improve more for sure. He’s also part of a defensive core and while he was let down badly last night, he also let that core down too. Not sure I agree he should be binned but it’s hard to defend the guy after last night. I’m sure he would accept his big part in an extremely poor game. |

What a depressing watch that was. Two huge moments in the game was the loss of Madsen and that awful second goal. The team looked lost when Madsen went off. Looking for leaders then and there weren’t any. For me that second goal was a Walsh error. That ball, once past Dunne, had goalkeeper 100% all over it. A truly shocking error and took everything out of that team. The result was then a disaster. We were awfully awful. All made even worse by being made to walk all around the ground and through happy Saints fans to get back to the car. A real shit show. Another bad day at the office. Stephan has an uphill climb for Saturday. We’ll lose games. Drop points. But that was a poor performance from a scratch team due to injuries. So much wrong. So depressing but it’s one game and we move on. But people at the top can’t hide. Someone has to discuss performance with the performance director. We’re supposedly a data driven club and it’s time for someone to look at the data and come to some hard decisions because it ain’t working. It’s affecting players careers. It’s making the manager manage on the back foot. It’s screwing our prime strategy of selling on players! |
 | Forum Reply | Kone first touch at 09:42 24 Feb 2026
He does have some improvement to do on his first touches, often lets it get away from him. That said when he’s got it he can often lay off some nice intuitive touches. He’s been a bit slow on pace but to be fair he looks like he’s in need of a rest at some point (if the backroom boys could help out and get another striker fit please!). Big positive is he’s getting the odd goal in his first season and has a way to go. Think he’ll get better. |

After Saturday just seen a job post on HQ for “Chief Scout” in Binjiwunyawunya. First priorities are creative midfielders and strikers aged 20-23. All good. We’re moving forward on ‘the plan’ |
 | Forum Reply | This season Vs last - progression at 07:50 23 Feb 2026
Sorry JB, down-voted you by ‘chunky finger syndrome’, didn’t mean to. Agree it’s been a much better season so far. No gigantic lucky season, just progress. Oh my God - progress!!! Yes please. I like Stephan, as you say he seems divisive but I wonder how much that has to do with Marti and Nourry. I like his approach, he’s had a lot of challenges with new players and injuries but he keeps doing his best. He makes his share of mistakes, like all of us, and still he has given us a better season than we’ve seen for a long time - even if it is just average. He mixes things up now and again; tries different things. Fck it, why not!! Been a good step up this season for me. Can we do it again next season? Yeh, come on, let’s do it. |
 | Forum Reply | Kone at 07:33 23 Feb 2026
It’s tough watching a new kid stepping up isn’t it. Like watching your kid who’s too good for his own age group but struggles up a level (and you hear people around you moaning). Then you see them do something good and your pride comes out and it’s “fck it, there you go”. Kone is adjusting. He’s doing some really good work in patches. You can see he’s a finisher. Deft touches to make opportunities for others. You feel his second season will see him move up. If there’s any concern it’s his pace, sometimes I think time has slowed down, but with Rumarn all he needs to do is find the right place to be and he’ll get his opportunities. Know where Vale is going to find the space and be there. See Koki heading for the by-line and get in the box pronto. Most exciting forward we’ve had in a long time. Feel he does need a rest though, he looks shagged, poor kid. |

Agree with the first sentence. Our youngsters are coming in and getting the real experience they need to settle into a match day squad - not just fannying around on the training ground with the big boys. Other young players (at the club and outside the club) are seeing a real pathway to first team football if they put the effort and drive required to make it at our club. |
 | Forum Reply | Cooky Monster at 09:51 1 Feb 2026
Cookies been terrific at the back partnering Jimmy. And at 35 too! I too thought he was going to be in and out with the foot injury from last season but he’s come through it in style. Wages will be the big issue I think. If that can be sorted it will be a tough conversation. I think we need to move on though. Those wages could give us two other players easily. We need to look to the future and get Jimmy and Ronnie paired up equally successfully. PS Cookie is one of my favourites so will be gutted to see him move on. True pro and bloody good player. |

I thought Smythy had a really good game yesterday. A pesky little mite who annoyed and kept coming back to annoy more. Yes, he does go down too easily sometimes but he also gets us free kicks in good positions too. That will keep defenders very wary. I wasn’t sure about the penalty - seen them given though for sure; I’d have been shouting for it. Thought the ref was barely OK. How Cov didn’t get some yellows I don’t know - especially after the Kone booking. There were two or three similarly rated transgressions that would have warranted yellows for me. That mugging of Smyth in the corner!? I never get how a player can be physically shoved in the back and it’s not a free kick - saw them do it a few times yesterday, us also, how can it not be a foul to shove a player hard in the back so he loses the ball or control?? It was nice to see less of the manhandling bullshit that goes on at corners. Enjoyable game. Great result. Let’s follow it up with a strong winning run now. And we’ve got some of our better rated players yet to come back FFS! Gonna have to work to get your places back lads. |

I liked the look of Bennie yesterday. He looks to get involved. He didn’t shy away from a big game. Interestingly he got into positions that other players didn’t mind giving him the ball, that shows they trust him. I thought he needed to improve his decision making and be more instinctive. He did make the mistake for their goal in losing the free man, just needs to own it and move on (we won, it’s OK). Had a few chances to score, believe in yourself Dan. If the lad knuckles down, listens to the manager, and keeps pushing for a playing spot while he has the opportunities around our injuries he could progress nicely to push on next season. If he’s not around the squad next season, teams will be queuing up for a loan - they’d be stupid not to. |

Surprised to see some of the negative comments today. Especially for a young player coming into the game for extended minutes. Yeh, Bennie made a mistake and Cov got a goal but he contributed to a win against a top of the league side. If young players are going to come in and we’re just going to beat them up for not being a seasoned players I’m not sure we deserve to develop players. Poor shout from some I’m afraid. Some great performances today. Smyth - what a niggly dynamo he was today, defenders must be really frustrated playing against him, he’s like an annoying mosquito full of energy and keeps coming back at you. Back four were very good today, Dunne & Cookie strong as we expect, RND was brilliant (and he won back the ball for the first goal), enjoyed see handsome Ronnie pushing up later in the game. Madsen!! What a game - MoM. Kone had a strong game, up and down the pitch but mostly working hard up front, great to see him get that goal. Vale is going to get better and better. Some good performances today and a top result to bounce back after last week. Well done Julien and the boys. Enjoy your evening team and management. You deserve it. |
 | Forum Reply | Christian Nourry - Two Year Anniversary at 10:27 28 Jan 2026
Definitely defined camps around Nourry (and the wider club possibly). The haters, the likers and the in-betweeners. I’d probably stick myself in the likers to in-betweeners. The strategy has only really just started but it’s not doing too bad to be fair to him/the club. But there’s a way to go yet before we look to see the full benefits we are after. He’s shaken a few things up (you’ll get no likers for that in and around the club - eggs and omelettes etc); he’s made it pretty clear he’s on the develop and sell path, which has worked for other well run clubs; he’s not afraid to negotiate to get some good sales from players we probably would have gift wrapped in previous times; he’s building the development squad, a very hit and miss target; all in all he has brought in players other teams and media are talking about. So lots of positives. He shows his youthful inexperience around his communication and ‘need’ to control the narrative. He needs to learn to bring people in not exclude them. I wouldn’t be extricating him too much for that, he’s young and hopefully learning (a good mentor would be really good for him). The whole fitness thing is bewildering and if he has a blind spot for this he will definitely come a cropper if he isn’t prepared to deal with the difficult situation he has caused bringing in a buddy. Always fraught! He’s done lots of good. He’s done some bad stuff. Nobody’s perfect and as long as it’s on the upward trajectory I’m happy to see it out with him so far. The next couple of years should tell us (I hope - I/we have all waited long enough for some bloody positivity). Top half would be a result for this season - let’s see if this group can achieve it - or maybe hilariously over achieve (not so sure on that one). |

Also begs the question why our team were really up for whipping Marti and his team at HQ this season. Has to have been something there. |
 | Forum Reply | Marti gone... at 23:31 25 Jan 2026
I liked Marti but the way he went wasn’t pleasant and I do feel he designed his way out for a way better job with Leicester. It’s backfired big time and he’s yet another manager who’s tarnished his reputation. I know lots here still love Marti but he didn’t want to be here so ‘asi es la Vida’. I don’t mind Julien, there’s no doubt he can improve but he does get on with the job and hasn’t over-inflated his ego on everyone around him. I prefer where we are with him than Marti. Shit, it’s not perfect but I’ve had f*cking years of my club being far from perfect, so not perfect is pretty good today. |
 | Forum Reply | 2nd Wrexham goal at 08:35 25 Jan 2026
The ref was inconsistent though Benny. Smyth being pulled, kicked and pushed all game long by Kabore - once again how many times does a ref have to talk to a player to realise he needs to stop it with a booking. Smyth does one reckless tackle and he’s booked. More ifs buts and maybes. No ifs, buts and maybes about us throwing away the win though. |
 | Forum Reply | Julien speaks at 20:11 24 Jan 2026
Thanks for the clarification Stainrod. I guess I read it without any personal history between you both and just a viewpoint. I just take a managers comments as a necessary requirement, I’m sure they’re equally fed up with doing them and you can only say so much without sounding the same week in week out. We’d probably all complain if we didn’t hear from them. |
