Solid innings of 91 including 60 plus years as a actor. Good actor who has appeared in some great films. Alien Escape From New York Cool Hand Luke The Godfather 2 to name a few.
Part of Neil's answer in the Success thread by Frankie got me thinking
"From here, re-integrating into the local community is vital and needs to be tapped into. There needs to be a focus on ensuring the surrounding areas feel part of this, and that QPR are interested in them and vice versa. There are plenty of people locally now who have no interest in QPR and that has to change back to how it was before.
Finding that local spirit again will help the club build on its supporter base organically. Those people will take more interest and pride in their club and hopefully that translates back throughout the club who can then take pride in itself properly as an institution. That in turn will help the club build on its history in a proud manner, not a shameful one, as it has done for some time now. "
So what area's of London now days do people believe have strong support of the R's? What area's should the club be looking at to develop further support for the R's? How should the club go about this?
One perhaps for the slightly older than a teenager among us. Got to thinking after the Lennon thread what makes you think about your age or changes in your life that make you stop and think of how your life has changed? (53 now)
Being in Australia some of my examples wouldn't resonate to many eg buildings torn down or 2 companies I have worked for no longer exist. Like Lennon many entertainers have passed away ie music (B.B. King) , tv (George Cole) , films ( Leonard Nimoy) or even seeing old movies, tv shows, music heard or books read that may spark old memories. Technology is another big one. I still have a lot of cassettes I use to play in my dad's old car that I brought from the estate til the player recently died. Yes some records then cd's and now downloads of music. Old red telephone boxes here in Oz now onto Mobile phones (my first was a brick back in the 90's that I won from a radio station) TV's to computer games (did laugh when I saw Pixels with all the old arcade games) Transport - the types of cars people have had over the years (had a panel van back in the 80/90's and still wish I had it, drive in theatres anyone? ) Sporting teams that no longer exist? I'm certain there are many more examples others will have. Happy reminiscing.
2014 saw Joey Barton near burned at the stake after the Man City and France experiences to rebound a become a solid contributor to the midfield. BZ re merge from the nursing home to give us a Wembley dream day and some useful performances up front. In 2015 which player or players do people feel could enhance their reputations and step up their games to help the R's and why?
Forgetting Nick Ward and looking to the future. Looking for others opinions if they have watched the Australian World Cup Games. Winger Matthew Leckie 23yrs ( 2nd div Germany FC Ingolstadt ) and LB Jason Davidson 22yrs ( Heracles Almelo Holland ) Both young players hungry, looking to improve their game and in Davidson out of contract thus on the cheap side. Bottom line would they be worth signing for the R's?
And Konk if you read this, is Fulham going to make a offer for another Aussie in Adam Taggart 21 from Newcastle Aust also part of the World Cup squad?
With the sad passing of Doc Neeson lead singer of The Angels one of Oz's best rock bands mainly 70/80s era. A possible theme for this week being musicians who are no longer with us.
All the best to those R's that are going today. Hope you enjoy the day and the result is the one we all want. Would love to hear some accounts on how the day unfolded for you. Alas 10,000 miles from the action
Always enjoyed the music thread especially as it has introduced me to many new groups and styles. So I will start a thread theme along the lines of new music you have experienced on here. Please feel free to post any of your normal stuff as well.
Starting off with from Talli's gothic collection
Also thank you but can't remember who 1st posted them but Admiral Fallow
Not happy the other half gets knocked up (before we started going out but thats no excuse ) so I have to go to her daughters 21st tonight and miss on the TV watching the R's and my local team Adelaide United. Poor forum she should of thought ahead for my benefit
Yes I still love her
Any way to the point any one have other hopefully enjoyable/funny events that they couldn't get out of and thus miss the football.
Some thing a little different try posting 2 songs of different styles of music or bands or era's you like. Eg jazz then punk or Heavy Metal and Dance or Reggae and Rock or Blues and Ska Or 50's and 70's or 60's and recent
LONDON (AFP) - Alex Ferguson could be about to sensationally retire as manager of English Premier League giants Manchester United, according to British media reports on Tuesday.
The Daily Telegraph claimed the 71-year-old Scot was "giving serious consideration" to leaving Old Trafford and could announce his retirement before the end of the week.
The newspaper did not cite sources but said that "senior figures" at the club could not be contacted to either confirm or deny the information.
British bookmakers reported a rush of bets on Everton manager David Moyes to become Ferguson's successor. Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has also been linked with the position in the past.
Ferguson has been at United since November 1986 and is the most successful manager in the history of English football.
In his 26-and-a-half-year reign, he has led the club from the English northwest to 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups, four League Cups, and two Champions League titles, as well as a host of other honours.
United claimed an unprecedented 20th English league title last month, having narrowly lost out to local rivals Manchester City the previous season.
During Ferguson's tenure, United have become one of the most famous teams in world sport, with American business magazine Forbes recently reporting that they are worth $3.17 billion (2.42 billion euros).
