Christian Nourry - Two Year Anniversary
at 11:35 30 Jan 2026

I agree with this & perhaps I worded it wrongly. I wasn't meaning that there doesn't need to be harmony within the club, but I do believe that is set by the line managers rather than by the MD/CEO.

At least, that is my personal experience from working for small, medium & international companies. I have certainly seen where a newly appointed MD can do irreparable damage to staff morale though. Hopefully this is not the case at Rangers, but if it is then that could be as damaging to Nourry as the finances may be & we have real problems.

Sorry if that sounds like I'm backtracking, as I'm not intending to be. For instance , the box office staff need to respect/trust their line managers , finance manager etc than have any feelings towards the MD. And vice versa.

I suppose what I come down to is that if you've employed the right people in the right positions, everything will be fine. I'm not convinced that this is the case, but that problem would be due to the MD having made the wrong decisions rather than knowing who is the newest employee in the canteen.

Christian Nourry - Two Year Anniversary
at 10:36 30 Jan 2026

Personally, I don't care whether Nourry is well liked by the staff employed by Queens Park Rangers. It is not the job of an MD/CEO to be popular. It is their job to make decisions/recruitment that will improve the club (company).

It is also part of their job to recognise when their decisions have not had the desired effect & when staff they've appointed are not contributing as required. They must also be open to questioning whether they have made the correct policy & changing it if need be.

This is where I have reservations about Christain Nourry. For the benefit of Spaghetti Hoops, I can't give any detailed evidence, but I feel (as a supporter this word is important) that he is not willing to accept that members of his management team are not the best available. He is also too fixated on the type of player that we should play, particulary in wide attacking areas & that we can only make changes to the personnel rather than the shape/style. I don't know, but I'd suggest that he puts his ability to like/get along with others above the quality of their output.

Of course, finance is possibly the most important part of his role, but nobody can judge him on this until two years of accounts have been reported. Ask the question again during the 2027/28 season & we may be in a better position to give an answer!

And all of the worst managers have been British!

Of course, both measures are influenced by not employing a manager from outside the British Isles before the 21st century. That is, unless I'm missing someone.

Nourry certainly mentioned this at the fans forum & stated that we didn't rotate the players enough, but that will be rectified this season.

I only saw a few minutes of this match (and none of Everton - Leeds) as Monday night in our house is quiz night.

What I did see is how much Norwich have improved since beating us twice & that they used witchcraft near the end of the game. Winning 2-1 in added time & they had SIX players in the Coventry half closing down. Most teams would have withdrawn all bar one of those & try to set up shop around their own penalty area.

The answer to that Myke is that we should have been able to cope with ten men for rthe remaining minutes.

However, Mbengue should not have put us in that position. There was no need to touch the Wrexham player, let alone jump into him. Put some blame on the ten that were on the pitch at the end, but please don't try to excuse him for another moment of his madness.

Four minutes of madness – Report

It has to be a problem that we have so many different thoughts on what system we "used" to try to see out the game.

Personally, I thought Norrington-Davies moved to right back & Field to left back to keep a four. Whatever, it was meant to be, it didn't work!

We had only made 4 subs yes, but we had used our 3 substitution windows & so we couldn't bring anyone else on. That is, unless it was a concussion sub.

Personally I thought we should have gone to 3 (3-4-1) or 5 (5-3-1) at the back after the sending off rather than keeping a 4

And I think he now has a three match suspension. One for being sent off & two for accumulating 10 cautions.

I don't know if the second one today is added to his total, making it eleven received.

I feel far more confident about the Coventry match than tomorrow!

Bus replacement & TFL line closures mean I'm really looking forward to this game!

I think we owe it to Sam Field to allow him to leave unless he is going to play in at least 50% of the remaining matches.

If youth players have no part at the club if they don't make the development squad at 18 & we release them for their own good, the same consideration should be given to first team squad members who don't make the starting team.

I think you summed up my feelings on the game Clive.

Another decision to have a go at the referee was his refusal to start the second half until Kolli reappeared. Kick off with ten as you should do & make him wait to enter the pitch.

The very strange statistic from this game was that Stoke had only one good chance to score, while we had two or three! Perhaps Stoke should be questioning there own lack of creativity rather than moaning about Rangers.

Having said that, I disliked every minute I watched on a stream & it must have been worse for those of you in attendance. I thought it a very similar game to nearly all of our away matches this season, including the wins at Swansea & Blackburn. I can't remember what our performance was like in the win at Bristol City so I can't include that, away to Wrexham being the only away match this season that we have looked to express ourselves.

And I was on about how that manager went against the spirit of the game with his footballing dealings off the pitch. They greatly affected how the "game should be played & the spirit it should be played in".

You can assume all you want to what I was referring to, but I'll be surprised if your close, unless you knew people that had dealings with him. Is that clear enough for you?

I'm amused that you quote the game should be played "in the right spirit" when one of your favourite managers (he might even be your actual favourite) was, IMO, the biggest scoundrel in the history of English football.

He made Hughes & Redknapp look like saints.

My reply would be "Welcome to how we've seen Stoke play for the last 50 years!"

I don't like that over the past few seasons we've become as hard to watch as Stoke & Preston have been, but I'm certainly not having a fan of one of those clubs lecturing us about it.

St Oke Methodist Church Away Match Fred

I struggle to remember when football was an entertainment business. Certainly not since Alf Ramsey's wingless wonders appeared! 1-0 to The Arsenal summed up most of football in the late 60's/early 70's.

Go back to a long time before I was born & they had to change the offside law from three opponents to two as sides were employing an offside trap with far better outcomes than teams have managed since.

Of course, there have been a few exceptions to the rule, notably us, West Ham & the two Manchester clubs in my youth, the Lisbon Lions from Glasgow, Brazil in 1970 & 1984, & the Ajax/Netherlands sides of 1968-1974. Newcastle under Keegan also fitted the bill.

The 21st century Barcelona are hard for me to make a decision on. They played some superb football, but everything was choreographed rather than free flowing.

Even all the teams I've mentioned always put the result above the performance though!
