I had honestly forgotten about him until he popped up in the odds to replace Potter. I'd be genuinely excited about such an appointment - could have that star factor which attracted players to the club much like Laudrup.

Don't well in Belgium's top division to make a solid midfield outfit out of Eupen. Anyone else share my interest in having him back?

Think the name is appealing but it is a no from me. His team conceded the 3rd most goals this season in the league.

Based on what exactly? Just because he was a great player?

We really need to get away from this sort of thinking. Stuart Webber is pretty scathing about this sort of approach in that lengthy interview he gave earlier this year. Appointing great players can work of course, but often doesn't - Thierry Henry and Alan Shearer being good examples. Unless Makelele has shown some signs of being a good coach I see no reason why we should take a gamble on him. Give me Cameron Toshack over an over-the-hill-ex-great-of-the-game any day of the week.

Only because he was our assistant manager before, it’s our style of signing.

Wasn't he a total banjo as our assistant coach under Clemo? Left after we'd been frequently tuned?
