I hope this is and stays just a rumour.

I xant see any logical reason why Marti would quit QPR for Sunderland. Burnley maybe, as they would expect to be challenging for a PL return.

Similar with Clarke-Salter and rumoured interest from Stoke. Why Jake that jump when PL clubs sniffing around.

That's a view, not one I agree with, but it doesnt solve the issues of labour shortages At least, not for the many years it takes to train up UK staff. Even if you can get them to take the jobs.
Pre-brexit, health care and hospitality had large numbers of non-UK nationals. Quite a large % moved on as the environment became more unwelcoming..

We all get that you are a Tory supporter who is prepared to excuse v all the errors that have been made over the last 14 years.
But you're changing course more often and sharper than a downhill skier.

So you have significant labour shortages in nursing, social care, hospitality, construction. If you aren't prepared to accept immigration, what's your solution?

I never claimed it was a good, or even acceptable, option. But it may prove to be something we'll have to consider. Especially if the other choices are equally unpalatable.

Its not just Either/Or. There is a 3rd option (see Japan) where the retirement age is increased to 70. Or even higher.

Brexit has been a failure and was a Tory encouraged policy. So they don't want to talk about it. Add that Johnson purged Tory remainers.
V all the RW media promotes Brexit so would slaughter any Labour suggestion of Rejoin.

Rejoin won't be an option until all.major parties want to do so. SM = return of FOM. Every chance UK would have to adopt Euro and join Schengen.

Dixon-Bonner has signed a new contract
AFAIK, the only ones outstanding are Armstrong, who I think has a 1 year option; willock, who we expect to move on; and Begovic.

At least 1 person can see through the Farage shtick.
Economic proposals make Truss' mini budget seem like common sense.
They are also looking to replace the NHS with a USA type of healthcare.
Is that what voters really want?

Dykes injured?
at 12:33 9 Jun 2024

Dykes' injury seems to be ankle.ligaments. 6-12 weeks recovery.
I know as the OH sprained her ankle coming away from the Olympic flame relay.

For me, England have the same problems they've had for at least 4 years. Great going forward but hugely vulnerable defensively. No fit LB, no backup for Walker. If Stones is injured then neither CB will inspire confidence.
Qtr or semi finals max.

I believe German motorways are tolled. Might be an idea to get a tag, e.g. Liber-T, that will allow you to sail through without having to find cash. I'm sure others (try Son of Northolt) will have more German info

Leicester must be one of the most multi-cultural cities in the UK and, generally, people get on living side by side with other cultures. The exception is when India play Pakistan in the cricket!!! And it does mean there are loads of great restaurants.

Re BBC.
There are often accusations that it is too left wing and others that it is too right wing. Remember that the journalists are well educated and rarely subscribe to the narrow views of Farage and his cohort. That doesn't stop him appearing on Question Time 36 times, when no MEPs from the progressive side were invited. Also worth pointing out that both Robbie Gibb and Tim Davie used to work for the Tories.
So, the presenters may be a bit too left wing for some tastes and the management too right wing. Overall they get the balance about right.

Rangers SInce 1966-67 Without Rodney.
at 11:54 8 Jun 2024

Without Rodney, QPR may well have got promoted to second tier. Not sure they'd have gone straight through the season after.
The basis of that side was the lads who'd won the SE Ciunties league before. Ron Hunt, Tony Hazell, Sibley, Morgan twins, supplemented by Les Allen and Jim Langley.

You've also got to credit Jim Gregory for his financial backing. The SA stand was built over an open terrace.

Looks like we're close to signing 17yo Rocco Friel (great name) from Hearts on a 4 Yr deal. RB who played for their B team.
By my reckoning it brings the Dev Squad to 19. Which could be supplemented by kids stepping up from U18s

D-Day

I never had any family who served as my father came over from neutral Ireland in 1944. But the respectful commemorations from this week make me want to find out more.

Next time we go Caen-Portsmouth, we're inclined to go up a day early and spend time at the UK monument. I have been to a German cemetery near Laon in Northern France. Hundreds of black crosses was very moving.
All the events should remind us that, although the bulk of the fighting was done by British, American and Canadian forces, Poles, French and others also contributed.
French Resistance did a lot of work to disrupt German defences. Not far from us is Oradour-sur-Glane where the SS killed 642, just after D-Day, as a reprisal for resistant activity.

Mummy, do all fairy stories begin "Once upon a time"?
No son, many begin with "If elected, I promise ...."
