Liverpool v QPR Betting Preview
Liverpool v QPR Betting Preview
Friday, 9th Dec 2011 17:42 by LFW Pundits

The boys are back after a profitable week all round prior to West Brom at home. Can they repeat the money making trick ahead of this weekend’s trip to Anfield?

A big win for Andy last week, his first massive haul of the season, saw him bring in £133.33 to reduce his deficit to £105.92. Brian won £45 on the horses and missed out narrowly on his treble and accumulator bet but losses elsewhere restricted his profit to £10 for the week, he’s up £27.89 on the season. Professional odds compiler Owen Goulding was on form last week – getting his money back on his Palace v Derby bet and correctly backing the draw between QPR and West Brom at 5/2.

I should catch the flu more often! Helguson scoring first, RVP scoring anytime at 5/6 thanks to Bodog’s promotion and my accumulator finally coming in means that I’m up to the tune of £133.33 this week - In fact, the only thing to let me down was my HT/FT, and I got the two outcomes right, just the wrong way round.

This week, we’re away at Liverpool - the first away match at a ‘marquee’ club (sorry Spurs…) and QPR are as high as 10/1 for the win! Whilst I think that we do have a chance of the win, (and as Liverpool are 1/3 for the win you can get odds of 3/1 that they don’t win…) I’m instead going to go for the both teams to score market instead, available at 6/5 with Ladbrokes.

One thing I would note, is that Andy Carroll can’t buy a goal at the moment. Having seen this film many times before, and knowing exactly how it ends, I’m backing him to score first @ 4/1 with Bodog, and their anytime goal scorer promotion. I also can’t not pick Helguson to score first after his current run of goals - he’s 10/1 with Bodog as well…

I’m sticking with RVP to score first in the Arsenal vs. Everton game, seeing as Bodog’s promotion to pay out if they score anytime is so ridiculously good at the moment - he’s 3/1 to open the scoring. Finally, after winning my first accumulator in god-knows how long, I’ve ended up with a six fold this week paying out at 23/1 - Man U, Birmingham, Rangers, Spurs, Valencia and Werder Bremen to win, massively boosted by both Spurs and Valencia being odds against relatively weak opposition.

For the Weekend:

Liverpool vs. QPR - both teams to score - £10 @ 6/5 (Ladbrokes)

Carroll to score first - £7.50 @ 4/1 (Bodog)

Helguson to score first - £7.50 @ 10/1 (Bodog)

Arsenal vs. Everton - RVP to score first - £10 @ 3/1 (Bodog)

Sixfold Accumulator - Man U, Birmingham, Rangers, Spurs, Valencia and Werder Bremen - £10 @ 23/1 (Victor Chandler)

Liverpool away is one of the highlights of the Premiership season and I think we can get a result. I am not convinced by them and I don't think Dalglish has turned them around. They are not a top four side and some of his buys have been overpriced and over hyped. I am going to go for us to win at 11/1 and Joey Barton to open the scoring at 28/1 and Jamie Mackie 20/1 at Bet365

Let's Play Darts- Ok some of you may not think it is a sport but as a man who looks like he has a space hopper stuffed up his jumper and likes a beer I still harbour hopes that I could be a world champion.

The 2012 PDC event kicks off next week and Phil Taylor is eager to regain his crown. He is still the one to beat and in previous years he has been odds on so the Evens is worth taking. The BDO version (a bit like the Europa league of Darts) starts in the New Year and Martin Adams and Scott Waited are 4/1. I am tipping Dean Winstanley who was runner up last year to go one better at 7/1 and a double them.

There is Racing at Cheltenham and Doncaster on Saturday, the Paul Nicholls/Ruby Walsh combo could have a good day and a couple of theirs makes up my Lucky 15 and I will have a single on their mount in the big race.

Last week I had a bet on the winner of the manicure world championship.

What a nail biting finish.

For the weekend:

£7 QPR to beat Liverpool 11/1

£4 Joey Barton 1st goal 28/1

£4 Jamie Mackie 1st goal 20/1

£10 win 2.30 Cheltenham Ghizao

£1 Lucky 15

12.45 Cheltenham Join Together

3.35 Cheltenham The Knoxs

12.30 Doncaster Rose of the Moon

2.45 Doncaster Kie

£1 trebles and a £1 acca

Swansea 17/10

Hull 6/4

MK Dons 6/4

Sheff Wed 17/10

£5 double on Dean Winstanley to BDO World Championship 7/1 and Phil Taylor to win PDC Evs

The Pro

QPR should be going to Anfield with three points won last week but a combination of poor finishing and the tightest of tight offside decisions means they enter the Scouse fortress a little deflated. I have studied this match quite a lot, and no matter how hard I look at it, Liverpool are much too short a price to win this game. The simple fact is I wouldn't want to trade our midfield for the one the reds will have on display on Saturday. Lucas is a big loss, despite people’s apathy towards him - he is a decent midfielder. Barton and Faurlin much better proposition than Henderson and Adam. However, our defence still looks suspect every time it is attacked and although Suarez spends more time on the floor than Audley Harrison, he is due a field day sooner rather than later. I am not sure it will be here though. The key is how Warnock sends his players out. I hark back to the Spurs game - we went to a 'superior' team away from home, sat back and let them dictate entirely for 45 minutes. I still believe if the attitude shown in that second half at White Hart Lane had been evident in the first, we may have got something out of the game. If we can set up the same way as we did for that second 45, it could be a good day out in the North West. We may spring a surprise with a win or a draw but I am recommending a bet on QPR @ 10/11 (generally) on the Asian Handicap at +1.5. For all those who don't understand Asian Handicap betting, a QPR win, a draw or even if Liverpool win by a one goal margin, your bet is a winner. Liverpool win by two or more, it’s a loser! Good Luck!
