Saints could be close to selling Nathan Dyer

Saints could take some of the financial pressure off by agreeing a fee for Nathan Dyer from Swansea City, the money belived to be around the half million pounds mark would be a godsend to Saints in that it would buy the administrator vital weeks in which to negotiate a rescue package for the club.

Dyer technically would not be able to transfer to the Welsh club till the end of the season, but given that he is on loan there already this would not affect his ability to play for them, it would be merely a goodwill gesture from the Swans.

They of course though will hope to benefit from a knock down fee, knowing that if they agree it now Saints will take less than if they are financially secure in the summer and are no longer desperate for cash, so it is not all charity.

In the main Saints supporters will shed no tears from the departure of Dyer, in the main he underperformed for Saints and repaid them last season at a time he was on the long term injury list by getting caught being involved in a despicable act of petty theft, if that wasnt bad enough he followed that up by refusing to sign a new contract, only doing so when finding out that no one else wanted to touch him with a barge pole, after that it became clear he was a disruptive influence and he was soon shipped out on loan, first to Sheffield United where he could rarely get in the team and then to Swansea where he became a success.

This perhaps showed Saints fans he had the ability, but that was aligned with an attitude problem that meant he turned it on when he wanted to, ironically Nathan Dyer might just be the single biggest factor in the club surviving, but you wont find a Saints fan with a good word to say about him.
