Gower Desperate To End Goal Drought Tuesday, 9th Dec 2008 13:58 Swansea winger Mark Gower has vowed to end his goal drought. Swansea City winger Mark Gower is determined to end his goal drought this evening against Barnsley. Scoring nine goals last season for former club Southend United, the Londoner has been surprisingly goal shy since his arrival in the summer but has vowed that he will end his goalless run and has expressed his growing frustration as he outlined in the Swan match day programme, he said, "Wherever I've gone I've scored goals. It has been a little frustrating here, but I have been close on a few occasions by hitting the bar, having a goal disallowed or the keeper making a good save.” He added, "I've never gone this long in my career without scoring. I was quite a free scorer during my time at Roots Hall and I've always approached double figures before that at Barnet and with Spurs reserves. I go into every game looking to score and hopefully it'll happen soon so that I can get the monkey off my back. It's becoming a bit of an annoyance now, so I'll just take anything, a little tap in will do. From a personal point of view I'd like to break my duck and get my first goal in Swansea colours."
