Matthew Phillips introduces us to the man in the middle for Saturday's game with Bristol City

Saturday’s referee is Lee Mason from Lancashire; Lee became a Football League ref in 2002 and has been on the Premier League referee since 2006.

This season he averages nearly 4 yellows per game and has sent off 7 players so far. Strangely he took charge of the away match with Bristol City in which we drew 0-0 earlier in the season. He booked Butler, Gomez and Williams in that fixture.

Out of the 8 Swansea games Lee Mason has officiated in we have only won one game – a 3-2 away win to Chesterfield in 2006. He does seem to favour the home team and he hasn’t filled me with much confidence in the two matches I’ve seen him so far this season.

Stats for 08/09 season:

30 Games,
113 Yellows,
7 Reds.

Games refereed vs Swansea:

Vs Hull City (away) 02/03 Drew 1-1
Vs Hull City (away) 03/04 Lost 1-0

Vs Barnsley (Neutral – Play Off) 05/06 Drew 2-2

Vs Cheltenham (away) 06/07 Lost 2-1
Vs Crystal Palace (away) 08/09 Lost 2-0
