Brighton player dealings 08:24 - Aug 11 with 3640 views | Gwyn737 | £107 million made on Caicedo in two years on top of the massive deals from last year. How on earth are they managing to do this so consistently?!

It would appear that dour football playing managers have got teams out of the Championship on many an occasion only for them to be not up to the Premiership with the style of play.

In fairness its not difficult to speculate when you have received £200 million. But, they do have a fantastic recruitment team, and I'm really impressed by Di Zerbi

Forest speculated with around £180,000,000! Not the same quality of recruitment team.

They’re my local club so a I go down a few times a season. Match days are excellent. Train station is a couple of hundred yards away from the turnstiles and free rail and bus travel with a match ticket from about a 15 mile radius. Do a huge amount in the community too. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Brighton player dealings on 10:14 - Aug 11 with 2800 views | Dr_Winston | If being in several hundreds of millions of pounds worth of debt to their owner makes Brighton "well run" then I suppose they are. Personally I'd set the bar a bit higher than that but lots of football fans are more easily pleased than me.

I would say if the player value is more than the debt, which I believe it is, a club is well run. A bit simplistic I know, but normal rules don't apply in football.
Brighton player dealings on 10:26 - Aug 11 with 2752 views | KeithHaynes | They have done well financially. And sales over the last two years are massive. They are one of those clubs I hope does well, but can they keep producing and selling ?

I'd say that they were one poor transfer window away from being right in the proverbial, just as we were once. Lots of clubs are considered well run until suddenly they're not.

No doubt they would have swapped positions with us in 2013. As skint as we were when the roles reversed, we were nowhere near that level of debt owed.

That's a fair enough position but that sadly leaves very few well run football clubs.

Probably when you concider Kane is £86M with one year left on his contract. Then you look at Saudi money, I would say it won't be long for £150M to be normal. Its nuts really, when there are do many problems in the world.

Southampton were using the same buy cheap & sell high trading model - Van Dyk, Mane, etc It only lasts for so long...

From Swiss Ramble i think from last year. [Brighton's gross financial debt increased by £35m from £374m to £409m, almost entirely from owner Tony Bloom in the shape of an interest-free, unsecured loan of £406m. Bloom provided an additional £70m last year, allowing the club to reduce the external loan by £34m to £3m (fully repaid after year-end} They have player assets of course. Owners tend to take money out when it is too late after relegation like Southampton and they do not get full value of the assets. Its hard to see how Bloom can get all his money back. Abrahamovic notionally gt his money back with a staggering £2.5 billion valuation of Chelsea. Who would have though t it possible?.

Are they still 350 million in debt? Or has about 200 been wiped off that? Like the idea of what they have done and appear to have new recruits already there to be sold on in the future when they sell one…just a question of how long they can keep it up I guess. Wonder if they will struggle this year after losing players and qualified for Europe which takes it out of clubs aswell as PL.

I was always told never to cast opinion on things one knows nothing about, now ccfc debts is something most of us all have a pHd in….if anything, you lot can’t chip in as you have no experience of it….lol anyway, my point was, as you well know, can they keep it up? Obv trying to get to a level through debt, selling to pay debt, can stay in position achieved? Very difficult as many clubs like you found out after blowing millions on duffs. Tan is just useless, great at running up the debt part mind, fair play to him. He’s blown 100 million hes never going to see again. He won’t pay a DoF. [Post edited 12 Aug 2023 10:50]
