There's no question that injuries to first team players continues to be a significant factor at QPR. What I'm not sure of however is whether it's worse than other teams in our division. Are there statistics on the number of players lost through injury per team, and number of games they miss?

It’s not the same game now. You can’t compare the two. The pace, the physicality of the game (not tackles but how much more athletic they have to be, the high press. Remember Stan Bowles on Superstars, he was hopeless compared to the really fit guys.

Also the players from then probably played half the time on painkillers and barely have knees.

Comparing us to other Championship sides’ injury records makes absolute sense. Looking back into the mists of time is a waste of time.

It's not a waste of time to me.

They may not start but I’d be shocked if Chair at least didn’t play a few minutes.

Well if you find it helpful to always look backwards and rail against change, go for it obviously.

I know I'm being unreasonably optimistic but a prospective mid-field of Chair and Madsen (with maybe Vale or Varane on their right side) makes me positively drool.

I see the Blackburn substitute who lasted about 15 minutes on our pitch went off with a ruptured Achilles and is out until 2027.

I don't 'always' look backwards and where have I ''railed against change''.

There Is nothing wrong with looking back either.

Hopefully that's It.

Thinking about Superstars, Kevin Keegan was the exception that proved the rule about footballers being a bit of an embarrassment on there.

I honestly don't think the injuries should be the pint of primary focus.

We need to go one step back and look at our lack of fitness - speed, strength, and especially stamina.

That will raises two questions:

1) Is our lack of fitness costing us games? and
2) Is our lack of fitness causing injuries, which are also costing us games?

Exacerbated by the fact that if you don't have the ball, you're doing more running. I think it's definitely a factor that our fitness and stamina is tested more due to us not having possession.

Watch the front 2 especially in games, they must cover 5k a game just tracking the ball side to side.

Going into West Brom home game, we only had Lakerche and JCS out. And JCS came back 2 games later….albeit briefly. Chair played every minute of 4 games before that having come back from injury and then went down against West Brom. Burrell played every minute in December except minutes from bench against West Brom away….and then, amazingly he went down injured against Wednesday in early January. The management of the players, especially our 2 most important players, by Stephan and Williams (?), is absolutely shocking. That’s why I have little sympathy for JS at the moment.

Agreed.

But there've also been games where we've looked cooked very early on.

Is 5k a lot though? I'd have thought a professional athlete can easily run 5k in less than 20'
I realise they are not doing a Parkrun, but even that scumbag Barton could cover more than 12k in a match.
-- usually about a metre behind an opposition player, as I recall

I don't really have a clue about distances, it was more to make a point, but if you spend 80mins of the game moving left to right tracking the other team with the ball, it will have a knock on effect with stamina and energy levels, especially when compounded for 2-3 game weeks.

If you're covering more ground out of possession, that plays a part. If you're also less physcially fit and ready on top of that, you look fcked.

Wasn't that the switch after the 7-1 to a counter attacking (direct) model?
If we want to do fast counter attacks then we rely on the other team having the ball.

Are Millwall also set up the same? I agree it is more running, and harder without the ball, but I'm not sure our players are as prepared as they can be.

Maybe someone needs to shout at them more in the canteen, do we have someone to do that in the backroom staff?
