Tough to take, but we actually responded well second half. In the end Carlton Morris is simply more effective than Lyndon Dykes and that was largely the difference apart form the late worldy.

When we're bad we're very bad, and although we didn't deserve any, we get no luck. The glass half empty view is we are nowhere near good enough. Too many players lack bottle, disintegrate under pressure, forget the basics, mishit passes, make unforced errors and don't bother to put in the challenges. Beale persuaded then to play above themselves, but basically they're a poor bunch.

On the other hand the glass might be half full, well a quarter full. They haven't all become bad players. They've been stitched up by Beale and are demoralised. One or two may wish they weren't here any more or have had a nod from Beale about a trip to Glasgow. Critchley will take time to get to grips with the squad, get them to play how he wants and weed out the no-hopers.

I can't believe it after watching Rs for over 40 years, but at heart I'm an optimist. Critchley got a lot wrong tonight, but the state of the squad isn't his fault. He tried a different system - mostly 4-4-2 - which I think is an understandable attempt to get someone playing closer to Dykes and wide players able to cross. Unfortunately none of the team seem able to cross a decent ball or take a corner and with Roberts roaming Dykes was still isolated and missed the one glorious chance he had. With Chair and Shodipo mostly wide Paal and Laird were only occasionally effective. There was little understanding on the flanks with several moves breaking down because players weren't on the same wavelength. We also missed Iroegbunam's powerful runs as he mostly sat deep and Rob Dickie is well off his best.

But Critchley will need time. We have to have some faith, however hard it is.

For what it's worth I made Roberts man of the match. He's a decent player if Critch can work out how to use him.

Why is Mide at our club still? Why is Hamaleinien still here? Why are we losing with a team full of loan players? We need cover at RB and LB tbh, we need to ship out all the midfield players that cant play in midfield as they are obviously not trusted or ever fit with Tim nice but dim being constantly picked in front of them.

We are carrying journeymen when we cannot afford to. I despair.

Disappointing to see no goals after nearly 30 crosses! A couple of nice touches but do not see Roberts offering a great deal to support Dykes, or anyone. How come one loanee is so much a journeyman, yet Laird plays as if it was his club?

With a theoretically decent defence, it seems the midfield are too easily carved through, leaving the defence very exposed.

And yet there were patches of good football, just not enough and never looked like a scorer.

That point at Cardiff might prove important yet!

Every word you said in your report Clive was on the money...recruitment really does have to be looked at and the fixation of "bringing your own through" . If critchley wants to play 4-4-2 which I wouldn't mind he really has a lot of shipping out and bringing in to do.
