Well when we're losing games in the Prem next season and plan A isn't working, personally I'd feel more confident bringing on a 6 ft 7 striker with 150 plus goals to his name than Super Sekou and giving Plan B a go... Lots of crosses and get it forward quickly. |

We persevered with Armstrong in his two Premier campaigns when he scored a total of 4 goals in 50 matches. Che took many many games before he started scoring a few. Onuachu cost a similar amount and can clearly score goals but we never gave him a proper go. I appreciate he may not be suited to our possession based style but as Butty says surely he's a better option off the bench than Mara. Unless of course someone offers us 10 plus million then fair enough flog him. How do we know if Ross Stewart will be any good either as well? Similar age and only ever scored at lower level football. |

We'll highly likely struggle and lose lots of games next season. I'm guessing you'll be back on here to mock us. I think there's a fair chance Pompey could do well next season as they're confident and on a roll, possibly an outside bet for the playoffs? It's just a bit strange that you take such enjoyment in posting on a Saints forum when you come across as a fully functioning adult, yet this would be something you'd only expect from a teenager.. Very odd or maybe you are just a kid? |

Forgot about Danny Fox, he was a poor player. I only ever saw Paul Moody play once and that was for Fareham as they played some cup final against Kidderminster at the Dell and he looked pretty good at that level. Bit different to the Premier league I guess! |

Lol.. Ahh Raymondo.. Forgot about him! A step down in quality from Steve Baker..i used to feel sorry for him, I remember the booing and abuse coming from the Milton Rd end when he played.. |

Bit harsh I admit. He only cost 50 grand, and many on here will know of worst CBs. Fully committed but what I remember he was very agricultural. |

Been to 33 current grounds and 6 old stadiums plus 1 that's now non league. Like Frannie I enjoyed The New York Stadium, nice and steep and a very tidy little modern ground. Now non league Yeovil was good too. Old school terrace behind the goal and we were able to have a kick about on the park behind the stand before the game. |

From day one I've never been convinced by Bazunu. Too young for a club of our stature. He looks too small. Beaten by too many shots other keepers may save. Put simply it just felt better having McCarthy in goal for the playoffs. Bigger, stronger and more dominant. |

All gooduns. Here's a few alternatives. 1. Stuey Armstrong. Free kick away at Stoke. 2. Tella. Away at Plymouth 3. Mara. Home FA cup Watford. 4. Downes. Swansea away. 5. Edozie. QPR. Home |

Wonder if we'll be tempted to give ABK another go as he looked too quality on occasions last season. Definitely need to bring in another CB otherwise. Like you I've always had a soft spot for Stephens but we certainly can't be relying on him, we need better quality and he can compete for a place or be a back up guy. |

Yep it's whether his legs have gone or he's got a little bit left in the tank. He was a wonderful player back in the day. I've not really seen him play much for Brighton. He was genuinely two footed and technically excellent. I guess you'd play him centrally in the Stuey role and hope he can link up the mids to the strikers. |

It's got to be one the hardest parts of running a club is recruiting the right players. Sometimes it must be down to sheer luck. We will continue to waste money on duds as that's the case at all clubs. We've just got to get a higher success rate this time. We've got to be pragmatic and approach the situation around players that will get us 40 points in the first season and then build from there. One step at a time and please not a young kid in goal again ffs! |

Totally agree. Yes we could get smashed most weeks and go straight back down. Yes the Championship is fun, all winnable games and no VAR. But why can teams like Bournemouth, Brentford, Palace, Brighton, Wolves, survive and prosper? We are bigger than all of these, with a better pedigree over the last 30 years. We need to recruit the right players and manager. It's as simple as that. Get the recruitment right, survive the first season and build. We should be less defeatist. If Bournemouth and Brentford can do why the hell can we not do it better than them?? |
