Yes we did & I'd forgotten! The second round had at least 2 all Premier matches as well. It certainly used to be that way & it must have changed in recent seasons, so it would seem strange that they have brought back any seeding. |

Unless it has recently changed, which I think it may have, no Championship clubs played against each other in the first round. I'm fairly sure that Premier clubs avoid each other in the second round as well, so this would be a change with minimal effect. |

I'm certain that the club would have checked that the player would qualify for a work permit, but I was under the impression that the rules were tougher for a non British player to join a development squad rathere than the first team. Or perhaps that is only up to 18 years of age? Or that he may be a first team "squad" player that regulary plays for the Development team! Welcome to these two players & hopefully they have more chance of progressing than the players that have recently left the club. |

This reminds me of Ajax just before they peaked. In the European Champions Cup quarter final they lost 3-1 at home to Benfica & then won by the same score in Lisbon. As penalties hadn't been invented at the time & deciding the winners by tossing a coin had been outlawed (the last time I can recall this being used was Liverpool beating Cologne in 1965), a play off in Paris was played. Ajax won 3-0 & went on to reach the final where they lost to AC Milan. In the next four seasons they won the UEFA Cup & then three consectutive Champions Cups. Perhaps, Dusseldorf can use this as a launching pad? Are 1860 Munich still in the third tier? |

I'm assuming that it hasn't changed , but when I was a club secretary of clubs competing in FA Competitions, the split was on profit rather than revenue. We were never in the position that I would know whether the FA had to share a loss with the two clubs! |
| Forum Reply | great song writers...... at 09:53 28 May 2024
The first thing to say is that Art Garfunkel was (and probably still) is NOT a songwriter! I can remember Paul Simon's reaction on Parkinson when Michael asked him who wrote the music & who wrote the lyrics! I'm biased as he is my favourite all time artist, but his songs of the early/mid 60's were relatively simple tunes with words that were special, even for the "folk protest" genre. For this old man, Paul Simon is alongside Bob Dylan & Ray Davies at the top of this list. Carol King & Carly Simon deserve mentioning as well. I'm sure there are many writers that followed just as talented, but it's hard to look past the heros of your youth! |

The story I heard on this theme was "What will you do when the Lord comes?" The reply was "Move St John to inside right!" |

I would think that they are worried about a lot of consticuencies stretching from St Albans to the Berkshire/Wiltshire border. I would think the new Harpenden & Berkhamsted seat will be closely contested. |

Back in the '70's (I might have the wrong decade!) at Colcheter train station - "Harwich for the Continent, Frinton for the incontinent"! Just a slogan that has stayed with me! |

The conservatives appear to be very worried about reclaiming Chesham & Amersham as Rishi was campaigning at The Meadow, Chesham United FC today! All my relatives still living in Chesham are expecting it to stay with the Lib Dems, but none of them expected the tories to lose it at the by-election! HS2 & Brexit (in no particular order) will ever be forgiven in the area. |

It is definitely owned by Ashley, but I think (maybe wrongly) that they have a long lease. |

I wouldn't argue too much against many of your allocations Bazzain, but why are Coventry a basket case? In the past perhaps, but currently? My other query would West Bromich not being in the delusional section! |

Cheers for the information. How the club got hold of the neutral tickets is probably a question best not answered! |
| Forum Reply | Playoff final at 17:48 26 May 2024
I expect that both clubs sold out their allocation of tickets & that the spaces were due to the "neutral" areas not being full. Out of interest, why/how did we manage (as it appears) to have a higher allocation than they did today? Or have the EFL increased the number available outside of the clubs? |

Is it harsh Clive? I'm not comparing him ability wise with those players, just his age & whether he will ever be able to score goals. IMO he will never be more than five goals a season & unlikely to reach the scoring heights of Andy McCulloch or Stewart Wardley! Ian Wright was also scoring lots of goals while playing for Greenwich Borough, as was Les Ferdinand at Southall. Sinclair wasn't too productive while on loan at Torquay, although his record was better than I had realised & he was playing at a higher level! Recently, I've heard you mention the possibility of Armstrong playing the "Traore" role of playing wide & going past defenders with pace. This is something I've mentioned to others during the season & I would like to see if he could adapt to that role. [Post edited 25 May 9:28]

Possibly I should wait until the report on the forwards is issued, but as they were included in the Podcast I would like to ask a question about Sinclair Armstrong. I know that I probably have the lowest opinion of his abilities on this message board, but why is he given so much space due to his age? Not that I should really be comparing him to the players I'm about to mention, but how many goals had the following scored by the time they reached 20? Roger Morgan, Paul Goddard, Clive Allen, Bradley Allen, Kevin Gallen, Danny Dichio for us & many, many others for different clubs. If you can't score goals by that age, what is the likelihood that you will ever become more than a five goal a season person? Geoff Hurst is the only player I can recall that went from zero to hero after that age. |

Various law enforcement agencies? Come on Boston, we need to know! DEA? FBI? Boston PD? State Police? Tobacco & Alcohol? It all makes a difference to what rumours we can start regarding your links with this gentleman. |

I know he had a very good career, but I was only commenting on his time at Rangers & IMO he cost us promotion that season. I'm also very suspicious of any player that only spent one season at a club managed by Docherty! This is based on what I was told by a player that he tried to sign for Manchester United. Not that I know that Woods have been given the same incentives! |
